Power FC Harness for 13BT/S5 FC...

Just curious.

I recall speaking to a rep from Apex over the phone some months ago and was almost positive he stated that they manufactured a wiring harness which could be purchased for an additional charge.

Can anyone else confirm this? I've rid myself of the over 20 year old OEM harness from the factory and now hope I can get a newly developed one...

Apex'i used to have a PFC version for the s5 but they discontinued it. It included a jumper harness and an ECU with some hardware differences that directly ran the FC ignition system. The Banzai Racing product adapts the FD Power FC to the s4 or s5 (there are slight differences for the two).

^ Thanks man, this helped, I was actually able to talk to my buddy who I originally gave my OEM harness to and get it back.

Plans are to to freshen it up and re-wrap it with heat shielding material. Has anyone here ever rewired their OEM harness before? From the outside looking in it appears to be a tedious task man...

I've been there. Reworked my OEM harness while I rebuilt my engine. Took me a good couple of hours seeing as it was my first time then, but I took the time to replace cracked or broken connectors.

A little unnecessary, but I also took the time to label things with heat resistant tape and mark down on a corresponding chart for the new connector wires and corresponding connections.

Thanks man, great writeup.

Anyone have any luck using the pfc control an idle air valve?
I have a s5 with the banzai harness adapter.

The PFC controls the stock FC and FD idle air valves and could conceivably control any pulsewidth modulated idle valve with a similar solenoid coil and operating frequency

cool. does the banzai harness adapter include this wire? Also do you know what the plug looks like on an s5 harness? I don't think I have an idle air control valve on my intake anymore since i had a megasquirt before. I need to re-install one and try to get it working.

The wire should be part of your oem harness to the IAC. You really will not need to re-install it. I've been running mine just fine with out the IAC valve, just make sure everything else is properly set up on your car and you should not have any issues.

I actually just bought a used harness that I have tore apart and stripped it off all the items I am not using. I have done it the correct way by de-pinning it at the connectors and removing all the wires from the harness. I'm also replacing all the connectors with new ones and replacing any damaged wires with all new ones. oh and anything that I can convert to weather pack connectors I am doing that as well.

I'm just worried that with a street port, light flywheel, a/c, and a heavy electrical load it won't idle well without it
