It has been quite a while since I have started my RX-7. Probably 9 months or so. I tried to start it the other night and made sure I was getting fuel, but I'm not so sure that it was getting spark.

So, I figured... Maybe the PFC commander can give me some information. I'm not a tuner and am not totally sure if I was getting the right information, but when I looked at the commander for the leading ignition graph and trailing ignition graph, while starting the car, the graph lines did not change at all. Could this possibly mean that I am not getting spark? Could it be the plugs? It was about 29-32 degrees outside too...

 

Ignition timing is fixed during cranking. But I didn't see your screen so I can't be sure what's going on with your car.

What are the symptoms? It just turns over and won't fire? Did you check for spark at the coils yet?

 

I haven't checked for spark at the coils. How do I do so??

 

I suggest you go to your local libary and read some books on basic automotive systems and trouble shooting. Then study section F of the field service manual. This forum is not for beginners.

After that, go to the 3rd gen forum for such basic questions.

i have to agree with you. lol

pull off your leading spark plug wire,put a screw driver into the end of your wire,then place it right next to your strut tower bolt.. make sure its not touching anything else and is within say half inch away and when you crank it over the spark will jump from the screw driver to the strut bolt confirming you have spark to the wires.

you probably need plugs
