poor boost control with Profec compared to PFC

I'm getting a large dip at turbo transition using a Profec B and nothing or virtually nothing when using the PFC only to control boost. Starting to wonder if I have the Profec installed incorrectly (using compressor signal -> Profec -> WG and disconnecting/capping the WG solenoid so ECU cannot vent)

Anyone experience this or offer advice (other than not to use the Profec )?

Thanks,

Gene

Gene,

how do you like the PFC compared to the M2 ecu? No huge jump in HP around the 4800 rpms range with the M2 unit, making it much more stable. More importantly more confidence inspiring when going through the turns and not having to worry about the power coming on and losing the rear.

I don't have an answer about the Profec B since I don't have one, just was glad to see you post and that you got a PFC.
Petit LeMans was a blast this year, wish you were down here for that.

I don't have profec b. I have manual boost controller.
But I have a thought on this.
PRofec B is a computer, it has a feedback system.
I think it learns that during transition there is a surge in boost. So what its doing is open the wastegate just around the transition RPM, thus you have the big dip instead of a surge in boost.

I think these boost controller are smart, but not really knowing that there is two turbo in the system running sequentially.

Hey Tim!

I'm very happy with the PFC compared to the M2 ECU. I purchased it for the very reason you mentioned. I was having a helluva time controlling the car through 2nd gear apexes (apeces?) . The lask of boost spike and smooth transition almost feels like a single turbo.

Yeah I really wish we could have been there for the Petit. We almost flew in due to the lack of activity on our Atlanta home (for sale). I was routing for the Prodrive Ferrari in GTS via Speed TV. Nothing like a flat 2 laps prior to the finish, eh?

Next year!

I think you're correct. The Profec B is the best boost controller I've used with the stock sequentials (however, I had to use/experiment with many different sized orifices in the PC line), but the PFC seems to do an even better job. This is probably due to the ECU's ability to control prespool and the various solenoids simultaneously.

With all of the posts regarding the Profec B, I expected it to be THE boost controller to have in conjunction with the PFC. Not necessarily so I guess?

Well, I'll keep it around for the single

Regards,

Gene

profec b

Which profec do you have the spec I or II? The spec two has ways of correcting that if you have that one.
