I am interested in purchasing a power fc for my 93 rx7.. but as everyone might know , they sell either with or without the commander... my question is how can I still use the power fc without having the commander available ?? Also, can I use a laptop instead and still have the same functions that the commander offers.. if so, what exactly do I need??? In addition ,it does not come with the data cable that's for the pfc to laptop, does anyone know where to get one..... please any information will be helpful..

 

all new pfc's are only sold with the comander from what i've been told. i wouldn't buy 1 without the comander imo

Well, what I want to know is if its possible to operate and adjust the power fc only with a laptop and without the commander??? C'mon someone should know.......also does anyone know the type of date cable from the laptop to power fc,and where the cables are available????

 

The commander doesn't really offer much for tuning, its really only used as a display for temperatures and such. Whether or not you have a commander, your going to need a device called a Datalogit (http://www.fc-datalogit.co.nz/) if you intend on tuning yourself. If your having someone else tune your car, they normally have one if they are experienced in tuning PowerFC's. There is no way to hook up the laptop to the PowerFC without the datalogit unless you have the apexi stuff.

To simplify yes you can run the pfc without the commander, but as thewird pointed out you will need the datalogit.

 

get em both, best combination IMO, I use the commander to monitor, and the datalogit to tune.
