Mine doesn't seems to hold memory. I usually leave at 8 monitor mode before I shut off the car, to my recollection the commander should still display the 8 monitor mode when I re-start the car, but it doesn't, it jumps back out to the 8 mode selection, and I have to hit "next" to enter the 8 monitor mode.

Is this common?

Mine does that occasionally as well. I think it does it just to screw with our sanity.

 

Playing with our sanity indeed. I just went out to test again and the memory works.

Oh well, hope it stays this way.
