Thumbs up PFC Map Errors Found

When the authorized programmers load the fuel and especially the timing maps, it appears that there are anomalies in them. Most likely caused by the formulas used to calculate and load the data. These can be seen as numbers that don't fit the trend of the surrounding area. This is more evident when you calculate the timing split between leading and trailing ignition. You will observe some noticeable deviations in the patterns. Worse of all, I found points where the leading timing fires after the trailing timing. Most of all the timing errors are within 2 points of each other.

I would suggest that you all check this out and fix your maps. You can use Excel to calculate your timing split once you have both ignition maps in Excel table/matrix format.

Hi Chuck,

Hmm. Very interesting. I used spyfishy's maps....do I still have to worry about this? I'm new to (and fairly ignorant about) tuning, so it makes me nervous fiddling w/the values. Perhaps I could give you a call and you could walk me through it?

Chuck,

Could you please post what you found in the map section. I would appreciate it. This way we could see what and were so we could find the mistakes easier. also, what should the corrected values be set at?

Thanks

It will have to wait until Monday because my home version of MS Excel does not have edit capability where as my work version does. I will take Spyfish's maps and explain any errors or inconsistancies in them.

hey goodfella, what was your 60' at the run you did a 13 at 111? That trap speed seems high for your ET. Did you get a crappy 60?

I actually keep the timeslip in my wallet . My 60' time was a 2.10 on stock sized Dunlop SP9000s. Usually my 60' times have been around 2.3 to 2.5. Go easy on me, I'm still new to dragging . B/c of the new motor, I'm probably going to stay away from the strip for a few more months...
