PFC "Learning idle" - Need Commander?

Just wondering, for the initial setup process when the PFC learns how to idle the car, do you need a Commander?

Yes because you need to use the Commander (or a Datalogit) to reset the PFC. A bunch of used Commanders will be hitting the market soon, as people are upgrading to the new model of Commander with an LCD display.

Immediately before shipping, the previous owner "reset the Power FC to the factory map."
Is that what I needed done? Or does it need to be reset after being hooked up
Thanks

The PFC should initiate the idle learning if the engine wasn't run after he reset the map. But if you need to re learn idle yet again you will be out of luck. In my experience though the idle learning isn't that important... throttle body adjustment and tuning matter just as much or more.

Ok, thanks
I'll be getting a datalogit at some point. Just wasn't sure whether I would need it for the initial install or not
