PFC initial set up
I just aquired a brand new PFC with the commander. My readings on the Pyrometer (exhaust gases temp) do not get below 800 degrees farenheit and while driving under 4000 RPM stays between 1000-1100, not good for the engine. I used information from maps from the website but using the fuel and ignition maps I was not able to change the temp. The shop tested te car on the Dyno and tested fine on air/gas (10/1 @ 6800 rpm) but the exhaust instrument was rust brown when we were done, not black! Can anyone help please!

I'm at sea level, air temp is 80-90 degrees farenheit and humidity is around 90%. The base map is good, it gave the car an outstanding 384hp @ the wheels running 12lbs of boost. The mods on the car are a Greddy dual intake, stock mount intercooler with the piping all the way to the trottle body. I'm controling the boost with a Profec. I've heard the as long as I'm not getting too close to 1200 degrees F on the exhaust, the car should be OK! Then again, why are the plugs black and the exhaust dirt brown? I admit to be using an additive to boost the octane. I'm buying 93 octane Exxon gas and found that after buying the octane booster the car responded quicker and was not back firing at all. So you tell me!

Exhaust temps are hard to compare because of the numerous possibilities for placement of the temp sensor.
Mine is mounted fairly close to the stock O2 sensor, and while cruising, I regularly see 700 celcius, which is about 1300 F. I'm probably still running a little lean, so I think you're fine.
Where is your sensor mounted?

Just to make it clear, the car is almost stock with the exception of the Greddy items (intake, intercooler, piping kit with elbow) High flow fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.

Could that have anything to do with the brown color?

At this time we are debating the brown color. The fact of the matter is that the plugs are black (good) and the car registered 12 to 1 and then 10 to 1 at the Dyno. The apropiate fuel mix should be 11 to 1, so we still have to work a little on the high RPMs (6800) to bring the mix back to 11 to 1.
