pfc boost control kit vs profec b?

I think I would prefer to have everything integrated with ecu but I'm sure there must be some tradeoffs here. Does the pfc boost control work as well as the profec? Thanks for any insight.

The PFC's boost control still operates around the stock wastegate control parameters. At a certain point, you'll have to start messing with pill size and stuff - when I added my high-flow cat, I was having spiking going to the secondary turbo, and I had to drill the secondary pill out.

With a real boost controller, you don't run into that limitation.

The PFC's boost control will keep things in check while the mods are still light. Go bigger, and you'll need a real boost control. But, it definitely saves you from having to buy one sooner.

The PFC controls boost via the stock solenoids and wastegates; however, the Boost Control Kit uses its own solenoid and adds a 3-bar MAP sensor (basically off the AVC-R). The 3-bar MAP sensor connects to where the OEM MAP sensor used to be and the OEM MAP sensor connects to a wire that goes back to the PFC. OEM sensor is open to to atmosphere while the 3-bar goes to the UIM...this is to compare pressure differences. With this in, the PFC uses only 1 settings (can't toggle between the 2 boost settings). To use the kit, you will need to switch the pressure sensor to Option 1 (iirc) and prolly will need Datalogit to change the boost range (if you plan on running more than the default config).

I think both units will work well but I just don't like running a vac line inside for boost control for the GReddy. What if it gets pinched or leaks? Higher probability for damage...mebbe.

I started with the Apexi boost controller kit and ended up removing it and fitting a Profec B. It just couldnt control boost, where as the Profec has no such issues.

I have not used the Profec-b, nor do I plan to or need to. My PFC BCK works flawlessly with my single setup.

There is no need for it with the twins unless somehow you can acheive over 16lbs? The PFC can control boost for the twins itself without the optional kit.

Some people think they have a kit because they bought a solenoid but that one peice does not make a kit.

Tradeoffs?
PFC kit is cheaper, cleaner and simpler but can't toggle between boost levels easily or at all.

Dual solenoid bck's may be slightly quicker then single (miliseconds?) and you should be able to easily change to two or more preset boost levels. Also some models are able to adjust boost for each gear independantly and/or acording to RPM.

I've never had extended good results controlling boost with the PFC on either of my high mileage FDs. It worked for a little while once then one day it didn't work as well.
