ok i think i need a little help this time

after being a hard core N/A FC fan for many years, i thought.. hey .. its about time i step it up and get myself an FD..
so last weekend i picked up a pretty clean 94 touring that had a couple mods done to it already but not much..

it has a apexi power FC in it and you can tell that it was running rich as **** just from how bad the exhaust smelt but i didnt know by how much because it dosnt have a A/F meter

well the thing is fouling out plugs like thers no tomorrow and i have never touched a power FC tell now and dont know **** on how to tune it.. and to me when i look at the settings its like im reading Greek

im not expecting any one to sit down and walk me threw it because im sure thers a lot to it, but maybe point me in the right direction on getting this car tuned safely

or maybe if by chance someone that knows how to tune one in or around where im stationed at here at eglin AFB Florida

thanks

If you want to tune the car yourself, you need a wideband first and a datalogit second. If you've never tuned a car or a turbo rotary specifically before, I suggest you get your hands on Chuck's notes & yahoo group which is now run by arghx (SP?) If you want someone else to tune it, thats simple, find a tuner that is familiar with tuning turbo rotaries & the powerFC.

Or do a lot of reading on here and learn to understand the power fc manual and teach yourself how to tune it, that's what I did. Wideband is a must, datalogit is good after you learn to tune, not a total must have but nice to have and can do some better fine tuning with it.

The more modified the engine is, the more complicated the tuning gets and the more important a Datalogit becomes. The commander isn't completely useless but honestly I think it's easier to use after you understand the Datalogit software and interface.

Can you give us a full list of engine related modifications? Does it have any vacuum line reduction or fuel system changes?

of that i know of.. its a stock port motor with roughly 30k miles on it..
stock twins, all smog removed, upgraded innercooler(not sure what kind but its in the stock location) .. 3 inch exhaust from the turbo back but it still has a cat

right now it sounds like it has a huge bridge port.. and the smell of unburnt fuel is strong

its weird because i drove it just fine for about 3 days and one day i started it up and it started doing this **** right away.. .. i changed the plugs and it didnt help crap

i guess i just have to do alot of reading this weekend

everything is connected just fine.. all new vacuum lines and all.. or at least whats still left on the motor..

i just said screw it and hit the initiation function and let it idle for 30 min.. it started right up and idled just fine but started to get really hot.. so i had to shut it down.. it stayed at 90c for a really long time.. and then just jumped up to 110c and it kinda scared me.. hope everything is fine with it..
we'll see after it cools down

next step is a wideband and if it got hurt from getting hot.. then a rebuild as well i hate hurting rotaries
