Need advice on which stock base map to start with??

I just got around to getting and installing my PFC last week. I've read over every setup guide available here tons of times to make sure I got everything running properly. I still however have a very vague idea of actual tuning. I will be getting a professional tune, but I'm still waiting to install my intercooler and get a wideband first.

So here's my situation, I set everything up using the "newer" stock base map and lowered the values on the IGT at high boost as recommended. After running the car now for about a week, I can tell that my car is running rich because I can smell it at both idle and WOT. The "newer" base map is supposed to be good for an intercooler and high-flow/mid pipe which I do not have yet. So I'm assuming this is why I'm running rich. Again I'm just going by feel because I don't have an A/F meter yet to know for sure. Now my question is should I stay using the "newer" stock base map? Or should I switch to the "older" stock base map which is supposed to be only for an intake and catback? Or maybe something in between would be better?

My mods are on my sig, so you can evaluate from there.

For reference again, I do not have a datalogit or a/f meter. I just want to make sure that I don't potentially ruin anything before I can get a pro-tune.

I'd appreciate any help and thanks in advance!

try whatever map makes your car run best in vacuum. don't boost it, limp it to a tuner. there are too many things that could be causing your car to run rich

Alright I tried switching over to the "older" stock base map and it seems to run better. I didn't really notice any issues on the "newer" base map, just the rich smell. Now with the older base map only a couple of times in the last few days have I noticed the car smelling rich. The avg. knock levels I'm seeing are about 10-20 points lower with the older base map also. I Don't know if it really matters, but my max inj. duty was about 65% at WOT

Regardless I'll be sure to not boost until I get a proper tune. Thanks
