Knock value of 62-64 "bad"?

I have viewed a few threads regarding knock values. Let me see if I am correct: knock values really don't mean anything but are realative in nature: low is good high is bad. I've also read that anything over 60 is "bad".

What is the scale (number wise) on the PFC? 0-200? I am running 62-64 and can't figure out why my knock values are "high". I have M2 intake, downpipe, gutted cat, and catback exhaust. I know my car is running rich at idle..cause you'll get teary eyed from the fumes..and under WOT my EGT doesn't climb above 1400.

I just installed my PFC. I thought the basemap would be rich enough to cover the mods I had.

it depends on how they occur. They could either be random, or otherwise OK noise, or they could be an indication that you have something that needs looking at.

If you 60s occur reletiveley infrequntly, and are tall narrow spikes - then you may be OK, esp if they are pretty random across the RPM range. If they always occur at the same spot and sustain at that level for a period of time, then you may need some tuning.

Unlike the stock ECU, which is very conservative and rich, the PFC basemaps are pretty agressive - so be carefull.

Aggressive? Do you mean leaner? I understood it was richer than stock ECU.

Is PIM voltages related to knock? Also, if I take the O2 F/B Control offline, would that solve my knock problems?

With the 7.07 base map, I ran 9's and 10's and put down 318RWHP @ .7bar. PIG rich for a BPU Rx-7 (every bolt on). For me, this base map was PIGGIE rich. About the same as the targets for the stock ECU under boost (10.5).

I am now tuned to my target (which is leaner than some) of 11.5. That is still rich, but I like the buffer.

You going by experience? Or hear/say? Not what I experience in the least. Which base map version?

I have been wanting to get a A/F reading for sometime. Always to busy with family and work. I can see after checking my plugs and looking at the tailpipe. I feel it runs leaner than with the stock ECU. Not dangerously lean or unsafe. Just not as rich.

The O2 F/B control function... I believe varies the timing to increase idle speed stability.

I hit 62 regularly. High to me is 90's. Every car is different. My highest knock is right after my torque peak (there is a nugget). Compare it to relative experiences to your car.

BadDog - I'm going from my experience and what my tuner told me (as good as hearsay, but a lot of people trust him). But that doesn't make me right.

How do I determine which basemap I had? With my stage 3 mods the base map was giving me A/F ratios in the 12+ range. Another owner here had it in the high 11s. Both cars are basic Stage 3 setups. I had to add over 10% more fuel to get into the mid 11s.

But then I'm running high duty cycles at 11 to 12 lbs. I've seen others run the same duty cycles on the list - but then other people are reporting much lower duty cycles with the same setups - I don't get it. I have stock injectors that were cleaned < 1 year ago.

Very strange - so I guess this stresses the need to tune the car!! Everyone seems to have a different experience.
