Info in PFC FAQ doesn't match...

I'm looking to buy a PFC with the following serial: FD3S 000-xxxx.

The FAQ tells me this:
PFC FD3Sx 0000-0000
"PFC" is PowerFC, of course. FD3S is for the 3rd generation RX-7 (of course). The "X"
after the FD3S (or lack of the "X") is the key. Here's a chart for the FD3S codes:
FD3S - 96-98 RX-7 old version
FD3S2 - 92-95 RX-7 old version
FD3S3 - 99+ RX-7 old version
FD3S4 - 92-95 RX-7 new version
FD3S5 - 96-98 RX-7 new version
FD3S6 - 99+ RX-7 new version

So okay I match up the serials and it tells me 96-98 RX-7. BUT, the seller says it works for USA 93-95 cars (extremely reputable seller, I don't doubt him at all).

This person also had this experience:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hlight=version

So the only thing I'm wondering is how any of this makes sense?

Give us the complete number off of this PFC

Additional info:
The serial number is important as this determines Commander compatability.

The first PFC's were:

1. 414-Z001 - 1995-1998
2. 414-Z002 - 1991-1995
3. 414-Z003 - 1998-2002

Later Apexi upgraded the software version and made the chip in the ECU soldered/non-removable, unlike those above where the chip was a pin type and could be removed.

Apexi re-released the changed PFc's with different serial and part numbers:

4. 414-Z004 - 1991-1995
5. 414-Z005 - 1995-1998
6. 414-Z006 - 1998-2002

Okay the full serial is FD3S 000-0280...doesn't look anything like the 414-Z00X format that you have. Is there another spot that has the numbers?

Also is there much difference between the older ones and the new ones? I read there wasn't much difference, but the software was updated, was it a big change?

if your pfc has this plug then it wont work on the 93-95 models

software if unrelated, its the plug that is the whole difference

Okay cool. He took it off a USA FD so it should be fine. Bought it. I'll post back when I get it.

Such a PFC does not exist.

Very funny.
Only FD3S4, FD3S5 and FD3S6 can have a 000 serial number, FD3S not.

Ya, I haven't gotten it yet, but the guy who is selling it to me is Fritz Flynn. There's no way he'd be scamming me. Yet, I'm still confused about the damn numbers. O_O

I'm not saying he is a scammer. I'm 99% sure it is FD3S4 000-0280.
If the serial is 000-0280 then FD3S4 is actually the only possible one.

alright this is going to be awesomely mind boggling for you guys. The serial is
FD3S4 000-0280 and 415-Z002 (Yes it's a 5 not a 4). What the heck is a 415?
