idle learning

i have a question with the idle learning function...
does it learn all the time? or only during the first half hour after you initialized?

It has a learning/memory capacity because after re-init, it takes a while to stabalize the idle. And on later startups, it controls idle instantly. It does use a
feedback system to control idle, it really adjusts all the time. But does it really learn all the time. Only Mazda knows and this question is realy only academic.

Assuming the ISC is still working with your ported engine, HELPING the idle consists of adjusting air and fuel. If the air pump is removed or not pumping into the exhaust before the O2 sensor, then O2 FB has to be turned off.

O2 feedback allows the PFC to adjust fueling during cruise. If you turn it off, the PFC just fuels by the maps. So you can get good mileage by tuning the cruise areas of the map correctly.
