Help with PFC and single turbo.
Hey,
I just finsh installing the single turbo to my car. This has been an on going project for me.
I have a problem with my idle and part throttle. The only changed that I've made to my car from the stock twins to single are: upgraded RC 1300cc injectors, change setting on my PFC for the 1300s, got rid all but four vacume lines, intercooler pipe change, and I blocked off all emission related items. No, I have not purchase the fuel pump nor the FPR.
The problem with my car is that it will not idle smoothly. The idle is very rough, kinda like a running a big as cam on a boinger. I don't think all the plugs are firing. The car runs like its missing and is lacking powers. You can smell the alot of raw fuel come out of the tail pipe.
I have double check the spark plugs, plug wire connections, and the coil harness. Everything seems to be okey. What should I be looking out for? Is it ignition related or something else?
Thanks, Jay

I think the problem I am having might be my leading coil. I did the multimeter test like the one in the factory manual in section G. My leading coil came out 0.00 reading. Dead.

It shoud have very low resistance but usually the coils that i have seen go bad usually have really high resistance. I would double check the reading with another coil. If the car idles like **** but drives fine it might be more like a vaccum leak, something pretty big like the lower intake maifold gasket or the injector gromets/insulators/o-rings, people call these by different names. Did you just change the injectors to 1300cc or did you also change the other settings that were required for it.

rx7will,
I did check my ignition coils with an Ohm meter and the two trailing coils came out fine. However the leading coil came out dead. The manual specs for the coil test is: less that one ohms terminal contact-to contact.
Yes, I did have the injector enlarge to 1300cc by RC engineering. And yes, I did set the PFC for the 1300cc injectors.
Now I am just waiting to get my dirty hands on some coils.

While its idling remove some fuel from the fuel/ ign section of the pfc commander. Its a temporary setting that will go back to zero after you turn the key off, so you don't have to worry about changing any settings. Don't drive the car as this will affect the whole rpm band, just let it idle and while its idling remove some fuel gradually and see if the idle starts to smooth out. You can take it all the way down by like 15% and it will still run. Sometime the mixture is so rich without the air pump that it will foul the plugs and get real rough. Make a note at where it begins to smooth out and then you know how much fuel to remove from the cells where your idle is set at, usually like p4&5 n3 or4. You can use the map trace function to see which cells are too rich.
