Hays Rotary
I'm looking for feedback, whether it being positive or negative, about your experience with Hays Rotary rebuilds.
Thanks,
Cam

You might want to post this in the 3rd gen forum section to get more replies. I've been on the Rx7 List and this Forum off and on for 4 years and have heard quite a few Hayes horror stories.
A guy a met recently had already sent his motor to Hayes when we met. After break in he went to RP for tuning his Haltech. Only made 313rwhp with non-seq and all the bolt ons. Compression test showed 4.0 to 4.1, Hayes told him to give it more time to break in - yea, I guess so they can somehow blame him for not sending it back right away.
Another guy in New Orleans has a Hayes with about 20-30,000 miles and it runs ok but doesn't pull like it should for a ported motor (probably wasn't ported although he was billed for it).
There are too many builders out there with no compliants and so many with Hayes that I wouldn't even bother talking to them.
I'm sending my motor to Pineapple Racing in the next couple of weeks. I've heard nothing but praise for Rob Golden and his work. The prices are very fair compared to other highly reputable builders and he gives you more new parts for the same price (base rebuild is $1900 with new rotor housings and 2yr/24k mi warranty, if building a high performance motor then his $2400 5yr/60k mi motor is the way to go). Call or e-mail Rob, he's very helpful and willing to answer any questions.

Cam,
It's http://www.pineappleracing.com
Shipping is approx. $100 each way.
As for not hearing of them. They've been around quite a while and get enough business without advertising. I first saw them at the SCCA runoffs in the early '90's where they were always very competitive in GT2 or 3.
