Fourth??

Alright now I'm confused. When did you guys order? When was there a fourth batch?

I ordered and received confirmation of the order on the 28th/29th of January. I got an email last week saying my unit would be shipped out this week.

As far as I know, I'm in the "second group", which only exists because there were so many orders they ran out of parts after the "first group" and had to wait for things to get shipped to them.

Where are you guys reading about any fourth (and presumably "third") groups? The datalogit forum on Yahoo that I have access to hasn't had anything new posted to it since January 28th. I've been told you don't get access to the datalogit-fd3s forum until your unit ships?

Ahhhh! I'm dying from lack of information and a desire to finally get my car tuned properly...

Artguy, check out the website, or do a search in this forum for datalogit if you need more information.

Briefly, the PowerFC doesn't have a datalogging feature available to the public. That makes it really annoying to tune. It also has a number of hidden features on it, that only certain Apex blessed dealers can access. That makes it even more annoying to tune. The one tuning interface that the general public does have access to, the FC Commander, sucks in comparison to having a laptop hooked up to it. Apex pretty much shipped only half a product.

The DataLogIt is the other essential half of the PowerFC. It lets you hook up a computer to the PowerFC in order to more easily modify the settings, save your settings out to disk, trade maps more easily with other users, and, most importantly, log data for tuning purposes (Which means it gives you a record of exactly what the computer believes your car is doing at any given time during the run of the car. Make a pass down the 1/4, and it will chart whatever it is you need to chart while you're making that pass. Hook it up with a wideband, and you can chart your RPM, PSI, and A/F. It's what you need to properly tune. Minus EGT, but I'm sure someone will hook up an EGT probe to one of the other inputs on the box and share with us how he did it.).

The other essential function of the DataLogIt is, apparently, torturing me by not being in my hands right this very instant. It's exceedingly good at that.

thanks...

I appreciate it...

so the question is...would you feel better tuning your own car or having another person with experience in such matters do it for you?

I'd prefer someone with a proven record of tuning do it this time, but I'm forced to do it myself for a number of reasons.

At least this way, I'll be increasing my own skillset. And hopefully won't blow my engine.

I recieved confirmation on Feb. 19th. I was told I was in the fourth group and that they hoped to ship the last week in Feb. I haven't heard anything since but my credit card was charged.

If yours was shipped you should have the manual already. When they ship it out you are registered to accedd the datalogit-fd3d egroup and you can download the latest software/manual there.
