Going back to Stock ECU

As a Cali resident, I'm tired of dealing with the smog issue (words of someone getting old) so I'm wanting to put my car back to stock. Is it dificualt to re-wire for the stock ECU?

With a PFC and cat, you can tune a map just for inspections with a stock to mild ports motor.
Than afterwards, put the car back to power mode.

That is what I did with non-seq and now single.

I've been under the impression the the ECU has to be stock as well. I could have easily put the car back to stock, I have all the original parts minus the cat and exhust.

Can anyone else validate the ECU part?

So you think that they are going to take interior pieces off, and also have the intelligence to know
what the ecu looks like for every car they inspect?

they actually do have a list of ecu numbers. we do have a visual in CA, and while i haven't had em look for an ecu yet, i have failed the visual for the downpipe a couple of times.

don't underestimate the stupidity of the process, in 2013 the emissions tests have been way more invasive than 2012...

I thought they had to plug into the ECU during a smog

Do they keep track of the smog record with the DMV if you fail and why you fail. I'd be willing to switch it all back to stock and try to pass, but if it goes on a record that causes me to do a full inspection test i'll be F%^&.

they plug into it at the diagnostic connector I believe. they aren't tearing up your floor to check the part #

I guess we've gone a bit off topic, what is the difficulty to go back to the stock ECU?

I will look into smoging the car with a PFC on a different thread.

They won't plug into ANYTHING since the FD was pre OBDII.

they don't plug into the ECU on a pre OBD II car. they do have records on if the car passed or failed a smog test, but it doesn't seem to matter

The car does not have obd2. And I believe peeling up your carpet and removing a kick plate would be tampering with personal property at that point.
