emmissions legal?

Is the PFC emmissions legal? Does it function the same as the stock cpu? I have had a bitch of a time with that for a few years now and I really dont want to go through that anymore!!!
I hear its good but if its not legal then I can try and go another route. I'm simply not staying stock and I'm not a big fan of having the car at the shop for long periods of time either so reliability is a big concern. How many bolt ons(if any) does it support without any tuning?

My car has been bone stock(dp & cb, stock K&N filter) for years! far too long...wanna see cars in my rearview shrink faster!!!

An insert that comes with the PFC states that it will support an RX-7 with both catalytic converters in place, a free-flow intake, and a free-flow cat back exhaust.

The PFC will control the airpump, but it disables the EGR valve. So, if you already have problems passing emissions, the PFC probably won't make things any better.

My check engine light comes on after cruising between 2500 and 3000 rmps. I got the code for it and its the EGR which apparenty wasnt hooked up(its missing or never put in dont know). In any case, I had the KDR try to fool the sensor but i guess it didnt work since its still coming on. I passed inspection no problem so if the PFC doesnt eliminate anything I should be fine right?
I suppose it comes with enough room for intake and exhaust, does it run rich on a stock car? Do you know anyone with that set up(open intake and exhaust that has run the pfc?

The PFC doesn't turn the check engine light on when the car is first started, and at least here in CA, that is an immediate 'fail' emissions-wise. For the PFC to work properly, all the EGR wires need to be disconnected in the harness. Since swapping the ECU's isn't very hard, you could swap in the stock ECU and reconnect the EGR wires when you need to pass emissions.

2FAST7S,

I've learned a bit about the stock PFC maps in the last few days (I'm on vacation, lots of time to read ). It's likely that if you purchase a PFC today, it will ship to you with a different set of maps than the one for the mods I listed above. We call the one for just Intake and Catback Base Stock. What you'll probably be shipped will come with what we call the Base Mod maps. You can find both of these on my site, but don't worry about that for now because they won't make any sense.

I think your best bet is to purchase your PFC from www.srmotorsports.com. You tell them your mods, they tune it for you before they ship it, then you just plug it in and drive. I personally don't trust the Base Stock maps. Is anyone around here running them?

Oh, and if you do get your PFC from srmotorsports, it is your civic duty to jot down all the values and send them to us. Also, don't worry about the EGR error.

Skotx, thanx for the info. I will post whatever i end up doing when i have made up my mind. At the very least I'd get the usual bolt ons i/c, intake, exhaust.
