Do i still need a FC data logger?

I have a apexi power Fc w/ commander and a Innovate wideband LM1

Lm1 from what i read has data logging capiabilites.

i know the fc datalogger canadjust a few things the commander can't.
1) is which is the fan speed/temp control.
Is there anything else?

Since i can log on my LM1, do i neeed a fc data logger to tune my car good?

Can the LM1 log ignition timing and knock?

After analyzing the LM1's logs, you'll want to tweak some AFRs. Once those are dialed-in, you'll want to play with the timing. There are 4 main maps: base fuel, injection adjustment, leading ignition and trailing ignition. All 4 maps are 20x20, so you have 1600 cells. (Not all are valid locations, since you won't hit 12psi at 1200rpm...) Do you really want to tweak that with your Commander? Using a PC is HUGELY easier.

Thanks for the reply, I agree it would be easier, with the PC, but Fc data logger is a big expensive, just to make it easier to read. So ignition and knock needs to be logged also.

the answer is if you plan to tune your car the Datalogit is the most important part of the equation.

Can the LM1 log RPM and PIM pressure? If it can't, it isn't worth **** for AFR tuning
Too expensive, time to give up owning an RX-7 then as you are trying to own a car over your means!

The LM-1 in conjuction with the LM-3 Aux box can measure multiple functions. A/F ratio, Rpm, side Force ( g force meter ), duty cycle, ignition timing, Map pressure, vacuum / boost ! Has thermocouple input for exhaust and air temps .....blah blah blah

Yes I am reading this as I type cos I just bought one, and it looks OK. Together with the software ( logworks ) you can log , display ( on a PC ) and analyze 32 engine perameters. Still reading....
Using 5 x 5v input channels you can record any data from suitable external sensor's, etc etc.

I have fitted the LM-1 permanently together with an A/F meter and it works fine. Still fitting the LM-3, then I will try out the software.

I'll feedback when its in and running......or not.

I will never give up on the 7, I'm just tring to buy smart, there's alot other things i need to buy for the 2 Fd's I own, just don't want to throw money away, if my Lm1can do the same thing. It does datalogging.

I have decided to buy a Fc datalogger. So now i should have everything.

cewrx7r1 don't you have some type of guide on how to tune the 7.
I'm gonna do this with my mechanic, he doesn't do tuning, but i want to learn how to tune it myself.
