DATALOGIT Speed Logging Note

If you limit you logging options, your laptop will record more readings per second.

Normally you need to record BASIC, AUX, and MAP REF for tuning. This gives you AFR, boost, knock, air & water temps, injector duty cycle, N&P cell, etc. If you also turn on ADVANCE, this will reduce you number of readings as some are repeated, plus getting more PIM info.

For only AFR tuning, try running just AUX and MAP REF.

Have you happened to compare the sample rate of Basic/Aux/Map ref with just Advanced and Aux? I have been just using the latter for my tuning, since that still lets me get my knock levels. I never thought to compare whether Basic+Map Ref would be better.

I still really wish I could take a look at the software source code. I'm a VB programmer and I know there's a lot of obscure optimizations that can be made with VB code. I'd about be willing to bet they haven't been done. Good chance that alone would really help our sample rate. I'll keep dreaming...

The test I did was between BASIC + ADVANCE + AUX + MAP REF to the previous without ADVANCE and it was faster but I do not remember how much.

BASIC has ten values, ADVANCE has 21 values. Make you own conclusions.

i recently compared my ignition map with logged values after reading JD's recent post...

i posted both advanced and basic IGLs and IGTs and compared them to my IGL and IGT values.

i was surprised to find diferences here and there between the basic and advanced average numbers. i assumed they were different due to the number of samples... but when i checked the logs they showed the exact same number of samples.

why the diff?
thanks in advance.

Do not have the answer. I only use advance when I need PIM ABS values for boost calibration.

Good tip. I hadn't counted the logged numbers in each of the groups. I always hated not having Inj Duty % in the Advanced log anyway, as well as having the more obscure boost PIM numbers....
