I've been almost completely off the forum for almost a year due to moving from D.C. to Seattle, starting a new job, playing a huge amount of World of Warcraft (warcrack), AND trying to sell a house in MD. UGH.

Anyhow, I'm slowly getting my personal life under control, so I've been coming back on the forums more.

What's the deal with version 1.12 of the FC Edit Datalogit software vs. the "Universal" Datalogit software?

Which is "better"? Can the FD3S Datalogit Box now read the PFCs in other cars like Nissans, Hondas, etc?

I have the new software on my PC & laptop but mainly use it for playing with. I had to use it once to modify one map because the owners newer DL could not load the dat which I had modded with the FD3S version.

It still has some bugs, and a couple of new uselss (my opinion) options. The new DL box is black. It is UNIVERSAL and is not hardware dependant the old FD3S version. That means it is suppose to work on any PFC for any car and is not car dependant.

So my old Datalogit (gray/beige) doesn't allow me to look at other car models besides the FD3S? I guess there's not much point in having the universal software then for me.

 

The old biege box is still good for any FD PFC but not other PFCs. The new black box due to being UNIVERSAL, will have a greater resale market.

I assume the DL boys did this to reduce the number of boxes needed for all the PFC car models. The new box intergates the PFC, determines which model/car it is, then setups the appropriate screens and internal code to use.

 

new universal software doesnt have the compare feature enabled. at least it wasnt last time i checked.
