Power FC Commander Question
After searching I'm just more confused about this than before. Do any of you guys happen to know if the 415-z002 model commander is the one for the newer versions of the PowerFC, or if #415X-001 is, or if they are the same unit? I've read some conflicting information and I'm trying to get a commander that wont just give me the A'PEXi logo. I don't see a model number on my computer but the serial # is PFC-FD3S40000150 which I think is the newer version. And there's a silver sticker somewhat over the commander port with some japanese writing and 415-z002 written on it, so I'll take a wild guess and presume that's the commander I need to get, but I want to be sure. If anyone can shed some light on this, or just post what the serial # of your computer and the model commander you have, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Okay, well after awhile I found out how to tell which model is which and what commander to get for each model, I guess I'll post what I found here in case anyone else might have the same question in the future, or tries to search:
How to tell what version your Power FC is:
If your PowerFC has no model number on it(like mine),you can figure out what model you have by reading the serial number. If the Power FC's serial starts with FD3S(i.e.: FD3S-XXXX-XXXX) it is model #414-Z001. Now if it starts with FD3S2 it is 414-Z002, FD3S3 is 414-Z003, FD3S4 is 414-Z004, etc.. The digit after FD3S corresponds to the last digit in the model number.
Now the 414-Z001,414-Z002, and 414-Z003 can only use commander model 415-Z001. Anything else wont work. Models 414-Z004, 414-Z005, and 414-Z006 can use either the 415-Z002 or 415-X001 commander for the FD. I'm using a 415-X001 with my 414-Z004 model PowerFC and it works fine. The 415-X001 is supposed to be a universal model that can be used with all newer Power FCs for most other cars Toyotas, Nissans, Mazda Etc.. but if you order a 415-X001 for an RX-7 it will come with the manual for an RX-7. So a 415-X001 for a MR2 should work with your newer model power FC for an FD, but you wont get the car specific manual. I have no way of testing this this though, because I don't know anyone with a PowerFC in a non-RX7, so don't hold me to it.

Good info. This thread needs a sticky for folks with Commander compatability questions.
My PFC SN is FD3S4 010-0521. The sticker by the commander input is 415-Z002. There is a 5 pin boost controller plug. So this must be a v5 PFC.
Thanks for verifying that the 415-Z002 and the universal 415-X001 Commanders will work.
I have read that the older FD 415-Z001 Commander will also work with the v5 PFC. Is this true?
