Which Is Beter For A Newbie Datlogit Or Commander
hey guys i allways here great theings about the datalogit and ok things about the cammnader but i really dont know alot about tunning so which should i go for in your opinons. thanks
The COMMANDER is made by APEXI and allows basic tuning of the PFC.
It also allows monitoring of many engine functions. It plugs in and does not require any other hardware or software. Easy to use.
The DATALOGIT is aftermarket and requires a laptop to run it. It does allows you to program many parameters that you can't with the COMMANDER.
Truthfully, you need both.
You use the DATALOGIT for your serious tuning and logging.
You keep the COMMANDER plugged in all the time if you wish so that you have easy monitoring of the engine.

The commander is definitely the starting place - I would get both, but for a newbie you can do most of what you need to do if not all with just the commander.
If you had money for one or the other, I'd definitely get the commander first.

I would start with a commander and bum/buy datalogit time off other fd owners in your area when you need it. The datalogit has many advantages over the commander for setting up a car. You can adjust multiple cells at once, graph the setting tables, check timing split, access the base fuel map, and datalog. However, once you get the car setup you really don't need these features on a day to day basis. While changing multiple cells at a time with the commander is a pain in the ***, it works fine if you just want to go back and touch up a couple areas. I also think the sensor info the commander provides in and of itself makes it a good buy.
