Apexi Power FC and midpipe

got a question about apexi power fc and midpipe, basically i need to replace my cat, want to get straight through pipe, but i heard i cant do it without upgrading ECU, so here we go i want to get an apexi and midpipe BUT i need to know if i can drive it on a standard apexi map? or do i need to get it mapped straight after i replace midpipe? reason im asking is that mapping is really expensive (nearly as much as power fc itself!! ) so i thought i can get away for a while on a standard map, so is there any person here, that was driving on standard map with a straight through pipe?

cheers

The standard map is ok for a midpipe and stock boost. The problem is that when you add a midpipe your boost is going to go up a little. Typically in the form of a boost spike. I would get a wideband and montior your A/F if you add the midpipe until you can get it tuned.

You will probably need to port the wastegate when going to a midpipe. Boost controller alone will not prevent boost creep.

^^a boost controller will control spikes and creep, that is what they are intended to do. The power fc will also control boost, so u will be fine adding a midpipe with it if u get that ecu. like Jason stated get a wideband, every rotary should have one, get it now instead of later. An upgraded fuel pump should also be high on your list (depending on any other mods).

the base map on the power fc can be used, but tuning it to your setup would be ideal, that map tends to run rich.

A boost controller will not control creep. Creep on an FD is caused by the stock wastegate being unable to handle the the increased airflow caused by a midpipe. It can only be corrected by porting the wastegate or adding an exhaust restriction to reduce flow.

This is pretty basic stuff.

ah sorry, my bad.
would boost levels have an effect on this?
say running 14lbs on the stock twins as opposed to 10lbs?
