How much airflow can an untuned PFC handle?

Try converting about 280 hp to CFM.

We are talking RWHP and you said untuned PFC which I would take as stock maps! You would run it on a stock engine or lightly modded engine. Such a engine you should not run past about 11PSI for safety. At 12psi about 300RWHP.

My car is lightly modded so far only a downpipe and intake. Next is the cat-back, wastegate and vaccuum hoses (both for reliabilty), then fuel injectors and intercooler. I won't up the boost until I rebuild (and port) the engine. I was wondering if the pfc could handle all that and more untill I get it tuned.

Many say the stock maps can handle about three small mods but not MP.

If you go Intake, DP, and catback that is about it. Now we are talking mods that increase air flow. A larger IC does not increase air flow.

The untuned PFC runs off the stock maps. That is why you can not gove over the three mod rule. Once you tune the PFC that rule can be broken.

how are you going to do the wastegate as a reliability mod? External wastegate on the stock twins?

okay, I was just wondering what you actually meant. Before you pay someone to do it, check to see if you have creep first. Mine doesnt' creep and I have all the mods (resonated MP).

I was goin to do it myself anyway since its not especially sensitive. I'll just make sure the bore is smooth and all shavings are removed before reinstalling it.

Actually a larger IC even without better piping can improve air flow. Thats the boost drop off or boost loss factor you read about if you compare IC's. The restriction in airflow caused by an IC can cause a pressure difference between the pipes(or manifold) after the IC and the pipes before the IC. But whats more important than the air flow is that the air will be cooler thus more dense and will require more fuel.

True, a larger IC might have less boost drop across it.

But; at a set PSI boost read at the LIM or UIM, the flow is the same. The difffernce is how hard the turbos have to work to produce the same boost.

As far as air temperature goes, small IC will cool just as well as a large IC in winter.

So what mods improve air flow regardless of outside temperatures?

I live in southeast Texas. We don't have winter. Winter for us is 68 degrees. Summer is 100 degrees with 99% humidity.
