Adding the PFC boost controller solenoid...

Has anyone just added the solenoid and run their own wires?

-I just see the point in spending $350 for the kit and $180 of it is for the Apexi MAP sensor when I already have a GM 3 bar

use this solenoid, it's $26 and is the same as the AEM solenoid : http://www.frightprops.com/FrightPro...ID=A-0013-0082

You can hardwire it or use this pigtail to connect to the factory wastegate (not precontrol) solenoid harness:

http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1674

Plumbing is the same as the Apex'i solenoid. Then get a Datalogit and in settings 1 tab set all "Turbo Transition low" values to 1800 and all "Turbo Transition high" values to 2000. Make sure sequential turbo control is on (trust me on this).

To tune it you use the "boost" setting as a coarse boost adjustment and the "duty" setting as a fine adjustment. And by that I mean the "boost" setting kind of puts you in the ballpark (as long as "duty" isn't too low) and the "duty" setting then gives you smaller adjustments. You can log solenoid duty as "Advanced WG%" Here's one screenshot of me logging boost and solenoid duty cycle in 1st and 2nd gear:

In first gear I am at maybe 1/3 throttle to control wheelspin. In 2nd I go WOT. I ended up lowering the "duty" setting very slightly after this to reduce fluctuations--this turbo setup was not built for low-end response. You just have to experiment with different combinations of settings to get it set right. Looking back at the screenshot of my settings, those option #2 settings put my car at almost 17psi pretty consistently, unless it's very cold out. The option #1 settings put me under 15psi in warm weather. I have a Tial 44mm external gate with 13psi spring.
