ac fuse keeps blowing

Just got my AC fix, no more leaks, compressor is good, bla bla bla. However, the AC fuse keeps blowing whenever I crank the car, I believe there is a short in the wiring harness. How would I go by troubleshotting that? The fuse does not blow when the ignition is @ on position, only when I crank the car? If I jump the relay, I get cold air...any help?
TIA
Marco

Get and look at the wiring diagram for the AC circuit. Follow and check all the wiring from the battery to the switches and AC unit checking for chafing or broken insulation. Since it only does it while starting, look in the engine compartment first.

NOTE: If the AC is left in the on position when you start the engine, the ECU temporarliy turns it off as it starts. So ask yourself this question, does it still short out even if the AC is trurned off when cranking?

I had the same problem! But it turned out that the air pump wiring was melted alittle bit from the turbo heat...so as a short term fix was I uped the fuse to a 15 or 20. But even then it would still pop from time to time. Once I re did my wiring harness I removed the air pump connector and BAM! it was fixed. Anyways all the wiring is located on the driver fender side/front relay box area.....just use a ohm reader and start checking, its gonna take about an hour to do it

well, problem solved. I looked into the air pump harness connector, and the damn thing was melted a little. My air pump was eliminated, and the ground and positive wires were touching a little. I use electrical tape to seperate the 2, and now the fuse has not blown since. I put the 15 amp fuse in in lieu of the 20 amp ones I used as a temporary fix. Oh anything thing, my ac is blowing on all 1,2,maybe 3 and 4 position, before, it will only work on 1. happy ending..
