turbo mx-6 powered rx-7?

what do you guys think of it? the motors put out a 145 hp and 190 tq according to ford and mazda, they arent to hard to get 88-92 mx-6 gt, 626 lx turbo, and 89-92 ford probe gt i think, which was underrated considering it could take a 3000 pound fwd car to 60 in 7 seconds flat, i know its not much of an upgrade for an fc, but not bad for an fb, plus it'll bolt up to the stock tranny pretty easily, let me know what you guys think and if it has been done before.....

i dont know if its ever been done but if it has i'm sure it wasnt worth it. not to bash on you or anything but i just dont think putting a piston motor in an rx7 is a worth while thing to do. especially not a damn mx-6 motor. i'm sure there are others on here that wont agree but thats just my $.02

Why do people always try to be different?

GO 5.0 or 5.7.

Jesus Christ! If you love the goddamn rotary so much, then why the hell are you posting in the "Other Engines" forum?

I don't think a piston swap is a bad idea, but the MX-6 engine is pretty weak. Sounds like you want it because it's cheap and easy, but there are a hell of a lot of engines out there that are better, while being just as cheap and/or easy.

Why would you bother with that swap? A Briggs&Stratton 5 HP will fit as well, that doesn't make it a good choice.

Better idea: Changfa 10hp diesel. It moves a Geo Metro pretty well!

Search this forum for "2.3T" to see how another small displacement inline turbo four cylinder engine FC swap turned out.
