SUPRA motor swap

as of a few weeks ago i have decided to dump sum money into a engine swap. i have a 93 rx7 with 78000 miles that has the pettit r1 front bumper cover and the pettit rear fender flairs that have been fully moulded in. that the new engine is going in.
a friend of mine is doing all the swap work. joey @ excessiveautosports.com

the 2jzgte engine and 6 speed, aem ems, front mount inter. have already came in.
i ordered the 272/272 hks cams and a garrett gt42 turbo

all i have left is the fuel system, cam gears, and sum misc. stuff.

shootn for the 800whp mark so wish me sum luck

Good luck. How the hell is the motor fitting though? I bet this is costing you a pretty penny.

BTW isn't 800 whp a bit unuseful in an RX-7? Is this a drag car?

800hp works great in my FC, you can never have too much power.

[img] image url, can upload pics to photobucket.com [img]

to post pics, well ive wanted the supra for awhile now. but i just cant see myself droping 40k for the twin turbo stock. so i think i am going to a rx7. but i figured i could have both worlds like yourself lol.

so i have some questions.

ive seen ppl talk about the weight of the engines and the extra weight in the front, is this a problem for the 2jz, if so how do you plan on equaling it out to say?

fitment, i would think that the firewall might have to be pushed back to even make it fit?

for them bigger turbos do you think there is going to be that kind of room for them?

btw, great project, cant wait for them pictures.

sounds awesome, best of luck.

I assume you have seen this article? -- http://www.sp-power.com/media_turbomag_1201.htm

SP Engineering did this conversion years ago, and although the car may not be the most gorgeous FD i've ever seen, the engine swap is definitely do-able. but it looks like you may have to give up some accesories to make room.

the swap will take sum time but all in all it should run smooth, we have talked about the ways we or joey... will in stall the engine. he has it all worked out.

There is someone here that has done it and had it fit under the stock hood. His screen name is Mikey. I think he is actually willing to sell copies of his subframe, so that would cure ANY mounting problems right there.

A 2JZ tip. Keep the stock cam gears. At that power level there is no need to advance or retard timing via an adjustible cam gear. That and the HKS ect units have actually shown wear over time. Leading to slipped belts and thrown off timing due to the slightly smaller size after some wear.

If you do get cam gears, I suggest the JUN or Titan ones. Both use an OEM Toyota outer ring. There is no chance for wear like like the late HKS units and won't slip like the cheap AEM ones.
