Garrett said it was a 1998 JDM turbo engine that had minor work done on it along with putting NA cams in it for more low end power and wider torque curve. The coils on top came that way.

That is not a 2jz. That is a 7m out of the MKIII Supra.

The 7m isn't a bad engine, just beware of a blown headgasket. A metal headgasket should be installed along with the necessary preparation for it. But if he's using that engine he probably already knows this.

I have a 1989 MKIII Supra and will be doing a 1JZ swap shortly.

That motor is definitely a 7m gte from a 86.5 to a 1988 mk3 supra, those are factory coil packs, but thats a nice turbo and manifold.

Maybe he meant to say a 1988 JDM Turbo engine.

Swapping the N/A cams in the older 7m's is a pretty common trick, they're substantially larger then the turbo cams in the later parts of that generation.

Actually it was produced from 87-92. The 86.5 had the nonturbo 7mge.

What turbo is he using?

Also $1900 is real expensive for a 7mgte and R154. Did he rebuild the engine?

Hell my whole 1jz clip is $1800 + shipping.

im tempted to say find a fc, and the supra motor and ill do the fitment/custom fab stuff for cost of materials. since im only 45 mins away from you. supra turbo fc, perfect sleeper. i guess i should finish mine first before thinking of doing others though.

Garrett has the installation complete and has driven it some this last week.

He has to rebuild the engine because he says it has an engine knock like a bad bearing.

So when he gets that fixed , I'll being seeing him and will take some new pictures.

.....rod knock. The other fault of the 7m besides the headgasket. Tell him to buy a new oil pump and oil pump driveshaft bearing for the rebuild or this will happen again. 7m's don't like being low on oil.

What ever happend to your 7M FC?

I wouldn't do anything less than a 1JZ myself. Hell, you could at least build a 1.5JZ for a couple bucks more. 1JZ head on a 2JZ block. All the benefits of the 1JZ MAP computer and Yamaha head and the extra displacement of the 2JZ.

The chasis got hauled off for scrap, and the engine got sold. I still got the motor mounts/driveshaft though (someone is acctually looking at buying them right now.)

I don't think the driveshaft would work for you. Unless you notched your firwall..... If you can get a mesurement from the differential yolk plate, to the transmission tail, I can tell you if it will work.

Also there is another guy that wants it.... So you'd be waiting on him (if he doesn't buy.)
