Rotary swapping help/ info

A friend of mine has a 2nd generation RX-7 convertible. He is looking into replacing the motor with a newer one. However I’m curious to know is the Renesis Rotary also known as a 13B? Also has there been any of the RX-8 motors swapped into older versions of the 7’s?
I suggested him getting a FD motor to place in his FC, or getting the motor for then generation he has but get the turbo one from a Mazda dealership.

I drive a 240sx with SR, and rotary’s are new grounds for me that’s why I’m double checking, I follow the look before you leap saying. However I’m willing to learn so any tech help would be grateful.

Thanks for your time, and any help you can provide.

Steve

yes its a 13b, the engine mounts are different, with some fabrication he could do it no problem. I recommend him drop a 13bre in.. 1100for a motor and 200bucks for mounts.. 230hp stock on shitty twins.. with a nice single very nice power with large intake ports and runners.
