BC non rotary engine swap

Hi i have 1985 rx7 GLS 1st gen that just puffs smoke some days and runs fine others. I'm at my end with the rotary engine! So can anyone give me a suggestion 4 or 6 cyl engine (non-rotary) that can be swapped in with not to many drastic changes? I deal with American muscle and just can't figure out these rotaries, I like the look of the cars but hate the engines.

if your familure with american muscle go v8.... seems like a simple swap... as per 4 cyl the sr seems to be gaining popularity.

everyone and their dog has an sr20 these days.
but theres also a reason for that.

if i was doing pistons again, i'd go with the ls1 v8. light and powerful.

Skyler here is a web site that you need if you are looking for how to swap roto for v8 http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/ very good info for both chevy or ford I have 1st gen that I am dropping in an efi 5.0 . with tran . I two found it was more inexpensive to swap the rotory rebuild or replace people in Washington State are very greedy with thier rotorys. good luck and have fun. also good source to find engine is http://car-part.com/ and follow what your looking for.
