nissan vg30 in an RX?

has anyone here put a vg30 motor in a second gen RX? id love to do the swap but dont know how hard it wold be. the vg30 is the same motor in the 300ZX. also id like to know if anyone has seen one with a Twin Turbo VG30. i can get the engine and the swap kit is on grannys speed shop. just thaught id ask u guys if anyone has done/seen this.

if you like vg30, just buy a 300z you will be happier

I haven't heard of anyone that's actualy done it and I was doing some reaserch on it myself. It doesn't seem that hard, but I you can just get a Z you might as well.

i have an 87 with a blown engine and an 88 that i drive daily so i just wanted an engine to drop in the 87 to play with.

Its BEEN done.

Anyway, I dont see how its any worse than the usual ricer fantasy of a 2JZ-GTE or a RB26DET swap. Its shorter and was actually available domestically, plus the VG30DETT was hardly a weak motor.

ya, but the DE is much larger than the sohc motor in that car.

IMHO. The sohc VG30 is only worth 160hp/185ftlbs torque. It features an iron block and aluminum heads. The DOHC VG30DE or DETT are probably much too wide to fit as said.

One might consider the VG30 single turbo which is the sohc turbo from the 86-88 300z turbos. They were worth about 180-200hp stock.
