Guys with the 2jz swap.........

I was thinking of getting a second fd and doing the swap for 1/4 mile use only. I was wondering how much the swap cost. also how does it handle? I thought about the ls1 but i would like to stay import because then people cant say well its because you have a v8 in a 2900 pound car.

So instead, they can say it's because you have a longer, taller, heavier 2JZ-GTE in a 2,900 lb. car?

Regardless, wrong forum. Try Other Engine Conversions. If you search, there are a couple people planning/working on 2JZ swaps.

I would think a weight saving V8 engine would be lighter than an inline 6 with full turbo equipment (intercooler, turbo, pipes, wastegate, etc).

This thread is fairly ridiculous. How many 2JZ FDs are there out there? One?

I've only seen two, SP's "Supra 7" and one other I saw awhile back that was in the process of being swapped. Other than that I haven't seen any others.

Even if you did do this swap, do you know how hard it is to find a complete 2JZ-GTE block for sale?

As hard as picking up the phone and calling Powerhouse Racing and asking for Jarrett?

Supra engines are easy to come by but like everyone said: V8 would be better and would be cheaper than a 20b or 2jze swap as I understand it.

If you beat them with a 750rwhp Supra engine, you don't think people are gonne bitch and moan? And if you beat them with a 20b, then they'll say "OOO but you have a 3 rotor." And if you beat them with a 600hp Civic they will say: "Well **** it, you still drive a civic!" Don't worry about the **** people talk as long as you keep making them see your taillights.

If you think a 20B swap or V8 swap is involved, you should see the CRAZY work the Supra-7 guys had to do to fit that thing in there. Not to mention that it's heavier, as Jim has stated. Read up about it first.

Usually...just usually, there's a reason why something's been done once and only once

The supra-7 was also only intended as a publicity stunt. I don't think there was much actual function to it.

I recall a Supra-7 in Hawaii that was not sponsered at all. Just saying.

Nice troll thread. I see you're still at it.

But I'll bite, why don't you put a Buick turbo V6 in the car you'll never own or make this fictional engine swap in?

Sadly, he really does own an FD, I hosted some videos of it. Hopefully it will find a new home one day!

Are you sure he didn't get the vids from somewhere else? The guy has started threads on virtually every part on the car in the last few months....and I get the feeling he hasn't acted on a single one. Let alone trying to purchase a SECOND FD to attempt a very difficult and utterly pointless engine swap.

I'm pretty sure, he was posting about smoking problems, and I hosted a video of the smoking. I really wish it wasnt true though! lol

I have some spare time this weekend, so I think I will yank the motor out of my CRX Si and slam that sucker in my FD. Should help with reliability. Anyone have any idea how to disconnect the wiring harness in the CRX? Oh, also, where is the oil drain plug

You can find the oil drain plug on the left side of a CRX owners head, but don't worry, it's already drained. As for the wiring harness, you better get yourself some medical gloves, its usually shoved tight up their ***!

The cost of swaping is around 14000.00 with everything you need. The company that does it has a 1200hp 3rd gen and they are in Canada. I for one think its a cool idea but is it worth the cost. maybe if you were blowing motors all the time and had no love for the rotary. for now im sticking with the rotary until i have no more hair to pull out.
