gm 3.6l v6
Just thought I would throw this out there.

This is the same motor that is used in the Cadillac cts and buick Rendezvous Ultra.
It is made by GM/holden. It is all alluminum 60 deg v6 with dohc and all the new stuff. Holden and GM are both going to produce it in twin turbo form to the tune of 400hp/400ftlbs. The block is 6 bolt main with forged steel crank and sinter forged rods and aluminum pistons. The na version in the cts puts out 255 I believe and has 10.2/1 compression. the tt has 9.0 to 1 compression.
I wonder how this motor would fit in an fd. It is set up to take a 6 speed rwd setup already. Width and hight would be the issue. The tt is yet to be implemented but the na is already in wrecked cars. Using the 9.0 to 1 pistons and a single turbo with custom manifold could net big power.
Just something to toss around.

there are engines for sale from wrecked cts's going from $2000 - $3500 online.
how much are used ls1's going for?
as a side note, right after I posted this thread, there was an hour long show about the grand national on the history channel. they have a show called full throttle where 2 teams build two identical cars and then race them head to head. the winner gets both cars. last night was about two buick gn's. they also go into the history behind the car. it was pretty intersting.
The reason I found the engine was after considering doing the gn swap in my 3rd gen. I wanted a v6 engine with an aluminum block to save weight. There are aluminum blocks for the 4.3 as it turns out. I was also intersted in a motor with ohc for higher rpm range. My searching found this. It probably won't be the most economical swap, at least for some time, but I wonder if it would work.
