Considering a 1jz swap on my rx7

I'm been thinking about this alot latelly, don't know if because I'm getting tired of rebuilding my motor and having hard time finding good parts for it or I'm getting too old for this but I'm been looking into 1jz swaps specially with vvti single turbo setup and just wondering not so much of the work involved but how expensive it can cost. I'm not interested into making high horsepower just looking to cruise in my car and not worry about anything I appreciate all your input. Thanks

Eddie

I’ve done both a 2jz and LS swaps now and they both cost me double digit figures. My best advice to you is buy an engine and trans complete and don’t track down all the small things. Loved both and I believe you will too...

Goodluck and be sure to post up progress if you decide to pull the trigger

I daily-drive my 550hp 2JZ-swapped FD to work. A/C, power-steering, all OEM gauges work.

It took 6+ years and cost easily $30,000+ in parts and labor.

Would I do it again?...No.

Am I glad it's done and enjoying it now, though?...Absolutely.

For reference, i have about 20K into my REW engine (stock from Addicted with BNRs) and about a year in, it's still not roadworthy.

If I could go back I'd have an LS or JZ for SURE. This has been the biggest nightmare, tryng to find an honest person that can work on a rotary engine. It might cost more now, but down the road I'll bet the Toyota engine will pay for itself.

Once this is all over, I'm gonna be afraid to take it to the track. I miss my Miata.
