Correct. The 1.8litre is about 20-40 lbs lighter than the SR. The SR isn't full aluminum either. They both have advantages and disadvantages you just need to figure out what kind of power you want, and how much cash you're willing to spend. Personally I'd rather do a CA over an SR strictly for the indestructible nature of the CA. The thing can take abuse all day long and when it does break, odds are it can be fixed. SR's aren't quite as forgiving...
However, an LS1 swap is probably the best choice for these cars if you don't wish to keep the rotary.
