TurboMazdaSpeed 02-28-10 11:44 PM

updates? u get er fired up?

Xtravagant 03-01-10 10:56 AM

ugh...It took forever to get the tranny in. (by the way were doing all of this in a hotel parking lot!! lol long story). the motor is basically sitting on the firewall, and there wasnt enough clearance for the tranny to fit in the tunnel. So you know what has to be done to make clearance lol BANG away!:) but the daylight went away and we had to put her on hold another day:(

TurboMazdaSpeed 03-01-10 10:56 PM

wtf really? mine fit nice with plenty of room to spare! r154?

Xtravagant 03-02-10 01:31 AM

yeah my luck with this swap has been horrible!!! Im really hoping it gets better

My mechanic got ran off the road last night and into a telephone pole by a drunk driver, absolutely ridiculous...everyone is ok, but his rb25 240 lol...and my car gets delayed till they can come back down here sunday:( only good news is all of the drivetrain is done, all that is left is a bit of wiring, battery relo, and gotta make a power steering reservoir

Xtravagant 03-04-10 04:05 PM

shifter came in today! new double din also came in this week...love when stuff comes in and you have to wait till you get off work to see it! lol

TurboMazdaSpeed 03-07-10 02:30 PM

updates? mines almost done, lol did all the power steering fittings & A/C delete / hooked up all the heater hoses.

Xtravagant 03-07-10 08:18 PM

Yeah were almost done too! Finished all the wiring today...the ic pipes and couplers we got from tech2 were totally wrong, so we gotta figure out something to do for that tomorrow:(. Still have to get the ps fittings to work and im keeping ac which is gonna be a bitach cause there's 0 room lol... O and what did you do for the throttle cable? We were gonna try one from a miata?? Not sure

TurboMazdaSpeed 03-07-10 09:10 PM

yeep 03-18-10 10:44 PM

Hey Xtravagant did you get the wiring harness done by tech2? If so did they send you the instruction how to hook up the wires? I have been emailing and calling and they still fail to send me the instructions.
Also what radiator are you using?
thanks

mobz_sknmotorsports 03-19-10 05:36 AM

ok for both guys lol... umm i want to do this same swap but in a FC... did it take you guys a year? to complete? and how much did you spend on all motor stuff?

Xtravagant 03-19-10 10:59 AM

I got my mechanic here in town to do the wiring, im using tech2's koyo.

Mine has taken exactly a year, but only because I had to save up all the money just the swap is about 12-15k depending on how much you spend on a motor

TurboMazdaSpeed 03-20-10 10:25 PM

update on my end.. my swap is costing me about 5 grand so far. i got the motor and trans / clutch, ecu and wiring (minus the flywheel) for 2500 cash. then i had to buy like 1 grand worth of parts. then laybor pretty much. drive shaft was expensive too.. the wiring is difficult, fyi there are no proper pinouts for this ecu online, my wiring guy got drawings on the pin out from some guy from the states, for our wiring there is a whole relay board powering the 1JZ ecu because the 1JZ VVTI ECU is obviously from a newer car and the mazda is old.. its hard to explain and complicated lol. We should have it started by monday. Oh and i actually didnt have to cut the hood. AT ALL... it fits just perfect! We used the stock subframe with a rear sump oil pan and spaced the stock sub frame down 1/2 inch :) heres some pics

yay some new pics

turbomazdaspeed did you modify your stock subframe? Can you please post more pics of your subframe.I just got started on my 1jz swap (non-vvti) and I'm wondering if I should modify my stock one or save myself the trouble and
pay the $2500 and buy the tech2 kit

dont got ne pics at the moment, but the subframe costed..hmm...like 100 - 150 bucks including laybor and materials to mod? LOL..... so simple, and if u get rear sump oil pan for the 1j u dont even have to mod the oil pan hole in the subframe, then we spaced the whole subframe down 1/4 inch. Hood fits perfectly with 0 cutting needed :egrin:

With the tech 2 kit..ur paying a retarded 2500 dollars, and then the motor sits so high u have to buy a scoot hood, or their CF hood which is another 1000 dollars LOL ...FAIL

Xtravagant 04-02-10 10:15 AM

Yup you definitely got me on that end of the price! :wallbash:

What did you do for subframe?

I am having a pro metal-worker friend of the family make my subframe, motor-mounts, etc, from scratch...

I'm sure he could figure it out all on his own, but do you have any tips can you give me to tell him?
