I have not plotted the bumpsteer. At some point I will buy/borrow a gauge to check it. For now I loaded/unloaded the front suspension and checked it that way. Its not the right way to do it but its good enough for now. It drives nice and I don't feel any bumpsteer. My next project is to address the rear bushings. The stock ones have seen better days and its starting to annoy me when I hit a bump. I ordered the whiteline diff bushings and have already changed to trailing arm bushings. I am not trying to decide what route to go for the control arms and toe links.

Hey, what pilot bearing did you use on your flywheel?

I had a stock type needle pilot bearing machine in my aluminum flywheel and started rethinking it since that bearing has a seal on a normal RX7. I assume you keep some grease in it or at least keep out dirt.

I used the stock RX7 bearing and just left a bunch of grease in it.

ITS STILL ALIVE!! IN WISCONSIN NOW!

Howdy Y'all, I have been in the process of refreshing this car back up to its former glory as she has been passed around a few times since it has been built and has some issues that need to be addressed such as the trunk, interior wiring and panels, and of course the drivetrain. It currently has some valvetrain issues im chasing (valve stem protrusion height is too tall causing the roller rockers to make contact with the valve string retainers during valve closing) as well as reinstalling HVAC back into the car and cleaning up the interior and wiring.

It was painted Innocent Blue Mica 20P in 2024, so started Red, Then Grey, Now Blue W/ Grey Engine Bay haha!

Whoah! A thread bump from the grave that delivers! It's a sexy car, I'd love to watch you bring it back. I dig that it uses stock trans/diff and the 4g63 seems to sit pretty far back. I definitely like it more than the K swap trend going on nowdays.

Do you have any idea what sideskirts those are? My car came with that same front bumper, and I actually love how those skirts match it. Looks great.

Subbd!

They are the Shine Auto Type-S Side Skirts, My Car Has The Front Bumper, Side Skirts, & Rear Add-Ons From That Collection. I will post updates on the car every now and again! Waiting to bring the cylinder head to the machine shop right now, just need to free up on other projects first!

Thanks for the info! I just learned that I too have a feed front bumper that came as a spare with my car. The fitment is actually great, and I dig the looks, but it needs skirts.

At any rate, that's one sexy car you have there. Do you come from a mitsu/DSM background? Or an Rx7 background? How did you end up with this abomination?

As a former DSM'er; I have to say this is a Bad @$$ Build! This is the first time I have ever seen a 4g63 mounted this way.

I oddly enough don't come from either background, neither DSM or RX7 background but I would consider myself a Mazda enthusiast. Built a couple turbo 4 banger motors for Hondas B and D Series and Mazdaspeed DIZI's and the standard boosted LS build. I do have a lot of experience with the 4G motors but mainly the SOHC engine 4G63-52-54 and that is only because as a side hobby I rebuild and resell forklifts and most Mitsubishi and Caterpillar forklifts have propane powered 4G63's.

As far as the way I got my hands onto this abomination is through a repossession auction oddly enough! Someone else's poor financial decisions came with great benefit to me, thanks guy!!

Pulled the cylinder head off it last night (will be taking to machine shop Friday) and finished redoing the foam inside the HVAC box and blower unit.

Quick update!
Pulled the cylinder head off the engine in preparation to take the head to the machine shop tomorrow (Bore looked decent and the head gasket surface looks good and found that the engine was not o-ringed!).
Tore the steering rack out to replace the absolutely SACKED 33 year old oil soaked steering rack bushings but when I pulled that i found the mounting clamps to be bent but after inspecting it looks like they were bent on purpose to slightly offset the steering rack, now its reinstalled without sacked bushings and straight mounting clamps the steering rack hard line fitting is making contact with the already modified oil filter housing. Looking at it closely I am seeing that the steering rack fitting as been making slight contact with the oil filter housing during drivetrain torquing/twisting.
Still continuing the restoration of the interior, have the door panels pulled to do some rework to make them not come off the door when closing haha! As well as pulling the dash to mount the heater and blower boxes, some things will need to be changed as some electrical control panels have been mounting in their places and will need to be relocated. I have been unable to find an affordable AC evaporator case or AC Delete duct that mazda use to sell new back in the day but is now "no longer available", I myself love 3D design and printing so I am in the process of developing an ABS 3D printable alternative/replacement as I cant get myself to pay almost $200 for some ducting.

Seems like a lot has changed with that car since I built it. The block I had in there was o ring’d. It had Aluminum rods in it, and Supertech dual valve springs in the head. Head was ported etc. I never bent brackets to move the rack etc. so not sure what else has been changed since I built it.

Woah the builder himself!! I wasn't sure if you would still be on these forums to see it! But yes it seems this car has changed quite a bit since you've had your hands on it, some for good, probably most for worst haha. I want to start off by saying that you did a dang good job at making the swap work with what was available at the time as most the stuff looks like you fabbed yourself! (I've also done some digging and found your Instagram page and man you make some cool sh*t) With that said anything I complain or say about the car is not meant to have any negative connotation or slander to you or your business as over the past 14 years I'm sure its been changed many times over.

But very interesting, I wonder what happened to the original motor that you built that was O-Ringed and all. Zoom-Zoom-Boom?

I've attached the build sheet that I was able to get from the last owner so you can see the differences in engine builds. Can you think of anything that you remembered about the car that I should know about? Something that needed attention or that you thought should be changed?

Thanks in advance, I have been having a blast resurrecting this car back to life!

Whoah! Sounds like this found the right hands. Glad you are going to save this thing.

Also super cool to see the originally builder of this thing chime in. I love this community. Keep us posted as things progress!

Thanks. I didn’t take anything negatively.
Seems like there is lot of stuff that is now changed. Different fuel pump setup/injectors, clutch disk, engine management, and complete engine build as none of those parts are what were in the motor when I sold it. I’m sure there is a bunch of other stuff too, but without seeing it in person I’m not sure what else changed.

Everything done to that car was done in house. Machine work, engine build, fab work, body work, paint, stereo setup, custom gauges, etc.
