13B-REW in 1st gen. (FB)???

well, I've been wondering about this swap for a while now. It seems like it should be easy, since the engine mounts SHOULD be the same, right? since it has basically the same rotor housings and stuff. But I want to know if it's a hard swap to do, or if it's easy as 1,2,3? Because I've found a place to buy 13B-REWs all day for $1,700 with Tranny, ECU, Wiring Harness, ect.
Also, if anyone has pictures of this swap, it would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
-Julian.

Also, what about the transmission mounting?

welcome to the board. :)

the first thing you need to do is spend a lot of time reading. there are a few REW FBs on and around the board. i think a few guys have gone through the trouble of using the stock ECU and wiring. in my eyes, it's a waste of time, but to each, his own ...

the real point here is you have options. you can find a way to mount the engine using the stock REW mounts and therefore retain the REW ignition and other features that are different ...

OR

... you can swap the front covers and mount it using the stock FB mounting and go with a CAS and standalone EMS.

just search a little and you'll find some useful info. for what it's worth, doing a T2 setup will likely yield virtually all the power you'd make with the REW since i don't peg you as someone that will be taking things to the extreme (the only place where the differences matter).

use the T2 tranny with either engine.

There was a guy with a 1st gen 13B-RE turbo. First he did a blow-throw carb then I think he went with a fuel injection setup. Maybe someone can cue in on his user name, I can’t remember. It was pretty sweet. You might have better luck posing this question in the 1st gen section or general rotary, this section is for more V8 or other non rotary motor conversions.
