Try the for sale section here.

mymmeryloss 02-12-10 12:40 PM

thank u. i have been looking on there, and there is some pretty good stuff...

say i wanted to rebuild, what rebuild kit should i get?

only kidding...
:naughty:

JSmith0101 02-12-10 12:54 PM

I think most people would recommend Rotary Aviation.

mymmeryloss 02-12-10 01:07 PM

i was joking with u man since u said i would be asking it eventually..

trying to bring some life back in this thread since it kind of went in a bad direction there for a few posts.

i am hoping to get an engine that doesnt need rebuilt, but if i have to rebuild, then i guess i have to.

i have been talking to a member on here about a swap, and he is highly referenced, so hopefully we can get something worked out and get an engine headed my way...

JSmith0101 02-12-10 01:22 PM

I know you were joking, I'm just saving you from having to ask seriously next time.

mymmeryloss 02-12-10 04:32 PM

touche'

well hopefully i dont have to rebuild it. atleast for a little while..

JSmith0101 02-12-10 06:44 PM

I'm in the same boat.

mymmeryloss 02-14-10 12:33 AM

well my stock engine, tranny, wiring, ecu, exhaust and mounts are gone..

this is getting real really fast lol...

JSmith0101 02-14-10 08:39 AM

That's the easy part.

Have you begun to think about the ECU/EMS situation?

mymmeryloss 02-14-10 11:33 AM

well for right now i was planning on just running the oem ecu until i do some mods..

i just want to get this thing running first and then go from there.

do i need to go total standalone or just get a chip and tune this thing? or is that just a honda thing?

what do u suggest, and what kind of price am i looking at?

lol, i still have yet to 100% decide on an engine to buy

TonyD89 02-14-10 12:16 PM

Carb it and you won't need an ECU.

JSmith0101 02-14-10 12:29 PM

Or do it the right way. Using the stock ECU works, people have done it. Getting everything in there might be a job.

I'm actually at the EMS crossroads. Pele suggested I use the MegaSquirt PNP kit, which plugs right into the FC harness, but that means getting the harness in and working.

You've got a lot of decisions, just need to start homeworking.

mymmeryloss 02-14-10 12:39 PM

honestly man, i have been doing a lot of research for the last 5-6 months on this, and i can never get straight answers or anything that sounds set in stone to me. i guess its going to be a trial and error. i am going to start off with the swap and get everything mocked up and then do whatever i have to do to get it running from there..

I AM NO GOING CARBUREATED! whats the fun in that?

DrKillJoY 02-14-10 12:54 PM

We have one of these swaps here at the track.

mymmeryloss 02-14-10 02:21 PM

u have one of what swaps?

for sale?

a rotary b series truck?

i dont follow, sorry...

DrKillJoY 02-14-10 02:47 PM

PM Sent. Maybe I'll do a writeup on the build here if I can get the owners permission to share.

mymmeryloss 02-14-10 04:32 PM

ya, that would be super badass if u could do that...

thats what im talking about..

mymmeryloss 02-19-10 01:48 PM

ordered mounts. they are currently being machined up just for me!

still waiting on that damn return so i can get my engine on the way..

mymmeryloss 02-25-10 12:28 PM

so, i have been looking around for just a keg to rebuild and make sure everything is kosher before i throw an engine in since my luck is running out on finding a decent swap that i can trust.

this has led me to actually finding a rotary shop here in colorado which makes me feel a little better about buying a core and rebuilding it!

if i end up going this direction, it will cost me a bit more, but i should end up with a more reliable engine...

what would be the difference from buying a core keg and rebuilding it then adding everything on rather than buying a longblock and rebuilding it?

i have been told the rx8 eccentric shaft is better than the rx7 and to use a fd transmission. i was really set on the fc s5 stuff since it seems like it would match up with my chassis a bit better, but i keep getting mixed reviews on my research...

can anyone help me out here and steer me inthe right direction like u guys always do?

Pele 02-25-10 01:05 PM

Do you want us to do the swap for you too?

It's been said a lot in here that the FC engine would be better due to cost, availability, and ease of mounting.
Where are you finding info that says the FD engine is better...
For that matter, tell me what differences FD transmission has over the FC Turbo one...

Find me someone who's built a 2600i running a rotary. Until then, why doubt someone who's owned both a B2600i and several rotaries and has already done the homework for this swap?

The RX-8 eccentric shaft is a couple ounces lighter than the RX-7 shaft... Not worth it unless you already have it laying around.

cmon man. u have to understand where i am coming from here. i am trying to learn and keep being given different information.

i just dont want to throw money down the drain, and i want this to be a clean swap. i want to know the problems i am going to run into and if there is a way to avoid a problem i would like to know.

JSmith0101 02-25-10 05:13 PM

Just get a decent FC engine and transmission and be done with it. Done.
