My '73 Rx-2.

Hey John,

I told Glenn the other day that I'd volunteer to drive her back up to you in Idaho :). Sure turned out sweet. Maybe you and Monte should drive down here prior to SS9 with an empty trailer, pick her up and trailer her over to the event before heading home. Probably the cleanest low mileage duce in the U.S. Definitely worth the wait!!

Hi Tim,

Yep, he really did a bangup job. He tells me the Aussie weatherstripping worked out great...good stuff. Still haven't seen the car in person! He took a photo of the "Three Maidens" together. Cosmo, RX-2 and R360 side by side, awesome! Won't post it until I get his permission. Would be a great old school poster!

Great color too, is it stock color?

Thanks! Yes, it is the original "Angel Blue". The Capella C-pillar badges are brand new. When I purchased the car from the original owner, these badges were missing. I asked them about it and they said the badges had been torn off at an automatic car wash soon after they bought the car in 1973. They complained to Mazda and were given two new badges. They told me they had lost them soon after and didn't know there wereabouts. I was cleaning out the car and found a plastic bag wedged between the transmission tunnel and the seat track. Inside the bag were two brand new badges! Buried treasure for sure!

Saw these! Anyone if this truck is still around?

PERTANO 10-02-06 10:25 PM

I just picked this one up a couple days ago. Gonna use it as a daily driver. 1976 TE37 SR5 Corolla. I also just took my new favorite picture of the RX-4. Something about an old car on a Tow truck looks soooo good.

Dam I'm is that thing running yet?....I'm tired of looking at it on a flat bed.

PERTANO 10-02-06 11:05 PM

talk to R&R about that. Ha Ha. It's suppose to be running now and the water that was coming out of the ports was just my imagination. Oh well as long as the car is running I really don't give a damn. I just want it back. But I think it's been on a tow truck more then I've driven it since I've had it. "NO JOKE"

Here are a few pics. I picked up up on Thursaday and headed straight to the DMV. Its now officially a CA. resident. I got it registered and titled ( should get the new Ca. pinkslip in a few weeks) and my license plates are in my hands.. I think the best thing about all of this is its a 1975 so I am exempt from smog... :wiggle:

I miss her, sorry about the crappy photo, its a photo of a photo, don't have the negative.

She took me to 2 state titles in hillclimbing and shite loads of wins on track days.

73 shell, 13B bridgeport, Mazda 121 closer ratio transmission, Alfa GTV2000 4.1 75% LSD disc brake rear end with RX5 calipers, Volvo 4 piston front brakes, four link and panhard, aluminum 6 point roll cage (yes it was legal back in the early 90s)

Old skool, fun, fast and freakin fantastic.

Damm nice car, you beat me to the wheels I want for my RX-3. I guess I'll have to find some MKII instead......what is easy to get the title and register the car? and how much was the shipping?

Not sure, Back in 2003, I imported a RHD R100 and a 1972 RHD RX3. I planned on keeping them but ended up selling them both to a collector in Florida. Its taken me almost 3 years to find another decent car within my budget to import. Not letting it go this time.. The blue car may have been a car I had my eye on in Japan that I was unable to close the deal on.. Maybe you can refresh my recollection..What was it??

teddyrx2 10-09-06 05:01 PM

what a deal and what a dream

Hey how hard was it to get it registered, and all that good stuff, how much did you spend on buying the car and how much to ship it out here.

SBMotors 10-10-06 09:31 AM

Just thought I would share this with all the old schoolers.

http://www.promazda.net/featuresbmotors

I had someone tell me that my RX-4 couldn't compete against new cars. For them, kiss my ass. I manage to win trophies and get car of the month at www.promazda.net and its nowhere near done.
