I like that you've shortened an SE rear. I always did like those wheels.
Here's my 74 RX-2 Coupe. SE Housings and rotating assy, some 83 12A plates and front cover, 80 5-spd trans, RB full dual exhaust, Weber 51 IDA, 82 GSL LSD, RESpeed GSL rear disc brake conversion, and a Taurus radiator fan that draws through both the radiator and oil cooler. She still needs a windshield, LF fender and lower valence and some steering items. Everything else is in the garage and going in slowly. |
Damn that nice how did you take off the windshield mines is shattered, i have a spare but it is a pain in the ass to take off.Any tips and tricks on how to do this.

My '74 RX4. Its in good shape. I recently started some minor bodywork. I still have along way to go. I'm running an S5 13B full street port, MSD 6AL ignition, 10mm Magnacore wires, 750 holley with Racing Beat intake, Racing Beat header, an aluminum radiator for a '69 mustang (IT FIT with some help, but NO cutting anywhere) and couple of little other odds and ends.

Teddyrx2, I know that old red 79! You a thick Puerto Rican guy down in San Diego? If you owned it 4 years ago then I met you when they still had street races down there. I would also run into you and your homies at RaceLegal at Qualcomm and even kicked it after the races at Balboa park. I was a Jarhead at the time and had a gold FC. I got rid of all my FC's plus other projects so I could go all the way with the old school rotaries!
I'll post a pic of the REPU and RX2 later today but I have to host them first. I remember you and your friends were good people. Good luck with the build! -Vince |

I dug up some old photos.
1st we have and old rx3 I had back in the day. When I got it it was just a shell, not even a roller. I used my stock pile of parts and local rotorhead sources to put it together. This was in the day before you could post a WTB thread on the web. 2nd we have one of my father's Rx3 rally cars. He started with an Rx2 when I was 12 or so. 3rd we have an old friends rally car doing what it did best. 4th is one of my first race car. Blue first gen. Before you guys dis the first gen, i think of it as almost old school. As Crit said the other day - "Dude it has been 25 years" -billy |

Here are some of the REPU I bought and am building for my dad. Nothing too crazy for now, just trying to cleani it up and improve the suspension, brakes, rear end.

And here's where the real time and money are going. The 72' Duece I bought off of our very own ChewieCookies here!
The only pics I have now are from the day I bought it but hopefully by next month it will already be starting it's transformation and I'll be taking it to the JCCS before it undergoes major surgery. If you look closely you can see JCookies black 2 in the backround! http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/enz...rsday06041.jpg http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/enz...rsday06039.jpg http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/enz...rsday06045.jpg |
I'd like to put up a pic of my friend's 4 but my computer is wiggin' out right now. This thing is crazy clean and I'm sure some of you SoCal folks have seen it in person already. Freakin' beautiful and has my old Mazdaspeed seats!
BTW: Gilbert, where you at? |

I have the parts to put a TORSEN into repu rear, just need some time and $. Thanks for the offer Brad. You're truck used to be my Dad's old REPU up here in Santa Cruz. We met you at SevenStock last year. I like what you've done (cleaned her up a lot!) and I want to go that route but so far I've spent a bunch on the fuel system, cooling system and now exhaust for the REPU. Plus this is a truck I bought for him and he was going to buy parts. So far I've shelled out almost everything. To say my Dad is cheap is an understatment but I want to build him a nice ride so I'm watching my pennies! Yeah, I'm also on mazdarepu.com but I don't notice to much activity on that forum. Good luck with the Torsen! REPU's really could use a LSD. Every car I drive needs one IMO though!!! |
Funniest picture of the bunch! Captures the general public opinion of our cars before they are restored:
http://img5.ranchoweb.com/images/enzochan/17a8scd.jpg |
yep remember you and your dad @ SS. Just wasn't quite sure of your screenname.
the truck now has dual weber's. 36 DCD downdrafts. rebulding one now. with dual aluminum air boxes. it turned out to be a great little truck. best of luck with the rustoration. not much current activity on mazdarepu.com but there is some good info archived there. I sell a coilover kit for front of repu. that plus monroe sensatrac front shocks makes for a nice ride. not much can be done for brakes except good pads ( i use porterfield R4S), all new parts, and stainless lines. later, brad |
Here are a couple pictures of my current rides.
1974 RX-4 with a 13b D-port. Still have quite a bit of work to do on it, but it's coming along. At least the motor is fixed now. 1972 Toyota Crown 2dr Hardtop. One of very few alive in the U.S, and finally my 1973 Toyota Carina. I might be putting a 13b streetport in this one. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...S/100_2904.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...S/100_3003.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Picture013.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Picture007.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...s/100_2693.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f3...s/100_2697.jpg |

Any chance you'll be bringing her to Sevenstock 9? I'd love to see them make an exception and let one (ultra rare) Toyota in the show! :) |
not a mazda but rotary powered.....

TOYROTOR: I'm digging that grill of yours! Looks like it belongs there.

teddyrx2, the best way to get a windshield off is to slip a guy $40. A professional glass man has a cable-pulled cutter that quickly cuts the windshield from the tar. You can then pull the tar out, lay down new adhesive, and set your new glass back in the frame. If you call a local glass shop, they'll probably just send someone out to do the work with no warrantee (since it's not their glass)
My windshield was already delaminating before I took it out, and now is cracked like hell. Old glass is just gonna bust when you're cutting it out unless you're lucky. I did get lucky on the rear glass, but my front got trashed on the way out. |

I have one very clean all original 77 REPU, (not pictured) and then this poor rust bucket I found awhile back. Hasnt been registered since 1984, just dont have the heart to Part it out. I was optimistic, but after I got it and started cleaning it up it just kept looking worse and worse.
Will try to get pics of the 77 up soon. It has 104xxx original on the clock. One owner from 77 to 97. Owner had bought it when he retired and used it for fishing and taking model airplanes to the airport. He passed away and it was put into storage where it sat until I found it in 03. I have kept it stored until now. Still has the original rubber and metal clip to hold the battery door open. My plan is a complete resto eventually after the 3rd gen is finished. |

Islandsnow, I'm feeling that mango of yours! Almost the color I want to paint my 2. Plus those old Equip 01's... damn you've got great taste! The wheels on Juni's RX4 are SSR reverse mesh. 15x9 in the rear, not sure about up front. Sorry to say but I don't have any pics from the side. |
