WTB: Renesis RE?

Note: this is not a sell/buy post.

Where can the public buy brand new "Crate" Renesis Engines? I was thinking about puting one in a 1st Gen or somthing. and whats the going price on one? Just Curious.

I think that that engine would alone produce more than enough Hp and Tq than that 1st gen will ever need not to mention its NA 240hp is instantanous, no lag.

We just bought a Mazda Remanufactured Renesis for $2800.00. You can contact Mazda directly if you are willing to pay this much.

The re-mans are $2800 plus core. The core charge is $1000. They've been known to make as much as 265hp to the flywheel with the right management and the right seals. Pretty incredible for normally aspirated with smooth idle.

I think Mazda will sell a brand new one for $5500 or something and I think you can get a dressed low mileage used one from Mazmart for around $3000. By the way, who sold the $700 one. Was something wrong with it? How many miles?

Some junkyard in PA sold it to him on ebay, they accidently marked it as "does not turn over". It had 8k miles on it. It didn't come with oilpan, pulleys, flywheel, intake, or alternater. I think I'm going to do this swap when my 12a goes.

What about all the electronics though? That sounds like a serious wiring nightmere.

There is alot involved in this swap, there is a few reasons why TONS of people don't do it...

Your honest best bet is to get a RX8 that has been totaled in the rear so you can steal interior stuff like seats, the wiring harness, motor, 6 speed tranny etc etc etc...

is it not already well known that the 6 spd tranny are crapp,, (apperently) unless theres some company that makes a better one,,,
if your bolting it up to a t2 tranny what clutch/pp would you use,, im wondering if you could use an rx8 flywheel, and pressure plate, and then get a t2 clutch disk in case the spline is a different size..

i was also considering a renesis swap, but with standalone, t2 tranny and no more flyby wire throttle ,, for ease of swap,...

all of these things have been discussed, i think i will definately wait untill i get a deal on something wrecked...

Wow funny I searched for this and this is a recent thread. I ended up picking up a totalled RX8 today and am going to be pulling everything from it. Actually couldn't wait so I already ripped out the interior and pulled most of the harness. I mean we stripped all the panels, accessories etc... The dash, motor, trans, pedal set etc... need to come out tomorrow.

Our intentions are to use this in our FC chasis but am wondering what the "problems" might be. I can only forsee the whole "ABS" dependency to be a problem and we might have to look for the way to bypass it or fool it.

I'm gonna keep searching but if you wanna respond i would be most grateful. We'd like to start the swap in the next couple weeks but want to be prepared for it. If the swap looks to cumbersome then we will sell the changeover kit in its entirerty.

Thanks, Rishie

oh ya, any word about whether an rx8 will be able to stand up to a turbo,, (aka with really good tuning and lowboost just for that extra, umph, (also to get rid of the typical rotary chainsaw sound

also does anyone know if companies have made race gears for the rx8 tranny yet? cause i would love a 6 speed, but i would iether want to make a stronger 6th gear or buy a set or race gears...

Turbochargers and superchargers have both been applied to the Renesis with good results. I personally am waiting for the Axial Flow Supercharger that Richard Paul is developing. Here is what Mazda North American Operations had to say about the secret Mazdaspeed RX8 Concept they built:

Bern posted these comments on Rotarynews.com:

"This is a development project that members of Mazda's R&D team have been working on. Because our engineers also happen to be enthusiasts, they're never completely satisfied and they're always tuning and developing vehicles one step further. This car is not for general sale now or in the future.

We're not ready to confirm when - or even whether - a MAZDASPEED version of the RX-8 is coming. We're always looking to improve the power, styling and drivability of our vehicles in each successive generation, and we're certainly looking at ways of adding the MAZDASPEED-DNA to RX-8, but we are not ready to talk in more detail about it.

Mazda touched on some details about this particular car, though...

* It is supercharged. Because of the location of the exhaust ports in the RENESIS rotary engine, it doesn't respond in quite the same way to turbocharging as earlier rotaries. Our team thought they'd experiment with supercharging for this project car.
* Virtually everything on the car is custom-designed and built, including the bodywork, interior trim, suspension and exhaust. Our R&D team saw this project as an opportunity to take the RX-8 as far as they could, while still maintaining its streetability."

I sold my SA, but now have an FC... Im Still wanting to Use the renesis (becoming a Turbo **** I think) A renesis Engine would suit my needs... produces MORE Normaly Asprated HP than I'd ever need and is still reliable... If anyone sees a Good and Wrecked 8... leme know...

This might have been asked before... Are the Renesis Engines any better as far as Performance and Reliability and Blah blah blah? Ive heard that they suck and they are better than 13B-REs... I honestly dont know what to beleve??? any words? Ive mainly heard that they lost A TON of tourqe for that high reving 265 FWHP

With the right engine management they can achieve 151 ft/lbs. This is using the Interceptor X from Mazsport in Florida. (Customized Microtech)
