i just got back from looking at a rx3 ,heard by word of mouth.we ran into an older man at the junkyard that had talked to us about older rx2's and that he was looking for some parts for a car he has sitting in his driveway for some years now.long story short the car he has turned out to be a rx3 not an rx2 and $1500 later it was our's.the body is nice and straight, originally lime green but got repainted brown, interior is black and complete only thing that was missing on the car was the engine.cant go wrong for that price heh.

So 3 stories here. 2 are old school Datsun's and my RX2.
A few years ago I was autocrossing a 1990 Acura Integra with a GSR swap. A friend of mine and I spotted the yellow and red car sitting in a parking lot with a for sale sign in it. I knew it was an old school Japanese import of some kind, just was not up on my old school cars at the time. Walked around it and saw the badging on it. Didn't think anything of it at the time. I had a car and couldn't really afford another one. About a month later the Integra got wrecked. Still driveable but I was on the lookout for another car. A buddy of mine picked up the Datsun 510 I will be telling you about in a minute and also a 260Z. We started working on the 510 and it got me the itch for an old scool car. A month later someone posted a Craigslist link on the local forum I'm on. Sure enough it was the same car. I picked it up, running and in need of a little TLC for 2300 bucks. I broke EVERY rule about buying cars picking it up. I looked at the car at night, didn't drive the car and didn't even hear it run before I handed over the cash. 2 years later and I am still loving the car.
The Datsun 510 was one of those deals that never really happen. A coupld of my friends were in Arnold NE for the Sandhills Open Road Challange. Standing around talking to some of the other racers, Brad mentions that he is into Nissan's and his dream car is a 510. One of the guys standing there said there was one sitting in the field in the back of his house. All he had to do was come pick it up. It was an 8 hour drive from home, but he was there in 3 weeks to pick the car up. The only condition is he had to do something with it. We stripped the interior out of the car a month later, the last time the car was on the road was 1976. Still a work in progress. Back burnerd for now because of the Z he picked up a month later.
The Z was a simple eBay find. The car was posted 2 or 3 times, looked like it had a straight body and was 750 bucks. We stripped it down to bare metal, replaced the right side fender and a headlight bucket. you would never know by looking at it how it started.
Around here, the upper midwest, you have to look HARD to find cars like this. But they are out there.
Oh yeah, the RX2 I bought ended up on MoteringJ.com. A google image search will bring up the link on the first page. Black gril, yellow front with a red tail.
