Weber Manifold

What options do I have to mount a side draft weber to my old school 4 port motor? I'm currently running a Holley but I want to switch since I can't get it tuned properly. (Runs super rich) A/F mixture under 10.0. I can't seem to find anyone that makes these manifolds. If you have a manifold or manifold/weber combo that you would sell to me let me know.

I can also make an 86+ 4 port manifold work too.

It's a 13b with extend port. I heard that down drafts were more for racing, either WOT or idle.

I have both a down draft (51IDA) and a side draft (45DCOE) - have run both setups. We use a Racing Beat manifold. We have a 13b Bridge Port. The side draft didn't flow enough for the BP, the downdraft works like a charm (but it is for a racing application!)

They have a LIM and UIM for this, but I think my setup had the stock LIM in place when we got it.

Note: Mine is a 6 port, but I'm sure this can be made to work.

Down draft webers work great on the street , both of my cars have them and run great . The side draft doesn't work , if anyone can tell me a car that came with a intake runner that was 180 degrees and was CARBED I would love to see it . Racing Beat will tell you they never got them to work right . Some guys say you get more torque , Ive drove cars with side drafts and saw nothing but rpm loss at top end . If you want torque get a rotary turbo car or a v8 .The same guys who talk down on down draft carbs talk down on aluminum flywheels ,saying they are not street able . My street port repu had one and I had no problem with drive ability ( ever though it was a heavy truck). The best drive ability IMO is a set of dual weber DCD 's after that weber down drafts ,Modded nikkies work great ,4 barrels always seem to run rich on the bottom end and side drafts belong on Datsuns and Toyotas .If you want your car to run its best inject it .

Well then it looks like I need some Ida's . Who makes these manifolds other than racing beat? Racing beat gets pretty expensive.

By the way, this is car it is in. 1973 Porsche 914

I have a Holley 650 DP. It just runs so rich down low. And I can't really lean it out much more because the motor suffers

Does the manifold have a plenum? And is it a stock port motor?

I actually just put a plenum spacer. I previously wasn't running plenum but it seems to be running better with it. The motor has an extend port

I used to run a 12a bridge with a holley 600DP. I had to port a plenum into the manifold and put a 1/2 inch open spacer on it too. Worked fine after that.

The car looks great , I'm a 914 fan and with a rotary its that much better . e bay has manifolds for a decent price . If you can find an IDF manifold the carb is cheaper than an IDA . The IDA is just a bigger body carb . Heres a pic of a somewhat rare IDF manifold and carb for a 12a . Its a 44 IDF for stock port .
