Waiting for my RX2!

Hey everyone, just purchased a 73 RX2 in vegas and should be in CA in a week or two. From pictures and discription, the car seems to be in very good condition overall. I don't know too much about rotory engines but it may need to be rebuilt. I called Haines Mazda in Alhambra and he told me it will cost a lot of $$$ to rebuild the original 12a. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic who can do this work, if needed, or can provide maintenance. Does anyone have experiences with Haines? Thanks

I'll post some pics once the car arrives!

I've got an old 12a out of a '73 Rx3 wagon that I am parting out. Runs great, no smoke and uses no coolant. It's out of an automatic, and still in the car. I'll give it to you real cheap if you come pick it up. Let me know.

Haines and Salazar in Silverlake will only do stock rebuilt IIRC. There are many builders out there but be sure to check the locals for feedback.

Let me know if you need help on that duece.

I am having it towed to Sidepex today so they can tell me what needs to be done mechanically....again I really don't know too much about rotory engines or how to restore one. My initial thought was to keep it as original as possible.
