Unique engine swaps

Has anyone ever swapped a 13B or other rotary into a Fiero or MR2? I'm curious as to what transaxle would be used.

I suspect the stock one would be fine, what are you concerned about?

umm since their mid engine and the transaxle for our cars is for RWD.

didn’t someone put a rotary in a Porsche a while back? I’m guessing a Porsche transaxle can be adapted

Basically, i would just love to see a fiero or mr2 with a rotary in it, but a porsche, that's just awesome.

One thing that comes to my mind is the Honda Civic from Europe that has a 12a in it. They had to use a Toyota Corina transmission. The biggest part with the trans axle is how the rotary engine is going to mount. On the porche/vw platform it seems much easier as theres more room and the engine mounts parallel to the chassis. They make an adapter plate for the VW transaxle to bolt up with the bellhousing I believe.

People put 13Bs in Porsche 914s routinely. Google will turn up lots of this. Kennedy engineering sells adapters for the Porsche/VW transmissions.

Bacon: The stock FIERO transmission.

Don't know about a MR2 or Fiero but I would guess it would be easier than putting one in a Porsche 911.
Turbo 13B in a 911

im in the works of a 84-85 mr2 with a rotary engine ,we are going to drop a s4 turbo 2 into it and it will still retain the stock mr2 driveline and trans. i found a kit that will bolt a rotary to a mr2 trans or porche or what have you. the kit retails for 500. bucks and the company is based in cali . ill see if i can still find the link and post it here . im still doing more research on the mr2 starter to see if the kit replaces the mr2 stock starter or i have to buy the VW 12 volt starter with the kit .

ill keep in touch or private message me here if i dont get back to you on this.

You can put a 13b in just about any car in the world pretty much someone has done it somewhere too.

How's about a Volvo wagon?!

I'm trying to put a 13BTT with a 5 speed in my '84 Volvo 245DL wagon. I'll try to keep this forum posted on the developments.
