My shifter relocation is gonna be on hold until I get the engine back. Rotors are back from balancing. Housings are in que for a big Street Port; may be a couple more weeks. Once I get the motor home I will be pushing it back a few inches from the stock location since I’ll be changing the shifter location and making a new driveshaft.

Thanks! I’m in Scripps. If you hear of a local rotary meet let me know.

Got some parts from Phil’s. New brake booster and Savanna chin. Booster is a very close fit for Wilwood P/N 260-8794. Holes need to be slotted about a 1/16” and the OD needs to be turned down about a 1/16” as well.

Chin will give me more room for coolers and looks better in my opinion.

Tank hole cut. Things look like they are gonna fit. Except for the on-cover fuel return line. It runs into the baffle. I will close it up and relocate it.

I’m selling my gas tank to have someone built me one but this looks like I can manage and make this happen 🤔.

I haven't had a chance to run the new booster yet, but it's a popular choice in Australia. It's a little bigger than the stock booster and bolted right up with a little interference with a rib on the firewall. You can pound the rib down or make a spacer to deal with that issue. The Nissan Patrol master cylinder that is typically matched with this booster from Australia won't work on left-hand drive cars, but the Wilwood unit I got fits with mods. I had to slot the mounting hole about a 1/16" and have the machined OD turned down 0.020-0.030" to fit into the bore of the booster.

Just got my Elite LIM. So much cleaner than the factory lower. Straight runners, no smog or coolant passages. Just needs a little port matching.

Finally got around to dropping the motor in the RX3 this weekend. Moved the motor back 3" from the stock location by redrilling the motor mount holes on the crossmember and adding 1.5" spacers behind the motor mount. Should have enough room to do a V-Mounted intercooler now. Need to make a tranny cross member for the TII box. Anyone have advice to share on transmission mounting? Just needs to be level, and parallel to the rear diff flange not pointing straight at it correct? https://www.hotrod.com/articles/91758/

Cool exhaust tip idea to take the stink off if you want or remove it if you don't.

I think you could make one by cutting down one of these.

V-Mount looks like it can fit with the motor pushed back this far.

Made a shifter relocation bracket. Still need to trim the excess off the RX7 housing and drill a hole on the other side (will need a .030 shim). Will hold it down with 3 bolts vs 4.

Here's where the shifter lands now.

Gave up on the V-Mount idea. It would make the engine bay too crowded, limit radiator and intercooler size and oil cooler mounting would end up being a compromise. Considering making a better fitting front mount intercooler that enters and exits under the radiator instead of through the inner wheel wells. An 18" or 20" wide x 11" or 12" tall by 3" thick core seems like the easy fit. I am tinkering with an idea to fit an 18" x 12" x 4.5" core. There is about 20.5" between the flanges for the AC condenser and about 2" from the back face of that flange to the radiator mounting face. So, If I tapered the tanks down on the ends to fill in this space a 4.5" core should fit without hitting the grill insert or radiator. With the pointy late model chin it looks like the oil cooler should fit in front of the intercooler pipes and airflow would move through the space between the charge pipes.

Views from L to R : Inlet End , Inlet Side, Outlet End, Outlet Side
Back of the core is seeing less of the flow due to the obstructive tank notches added to clear the tabs on the car. Less than optimal flow path but seems like a gain in flow compared to a 3" core.
